replacing pups in a PS3

ok this is a japanese jackson ps3 made in the mid 90's. 95/96 or so, not SONY!!!!

i really love this axe for the cheap price, scored on ebay with jackson/charvel case, guitar in red, never-touched condition.

alder body, maple neck rosewood fingerboard if im not wrong.ps3 is much better than ps3t, and i believe it is highly comparable to the RR3

the stock pups dun have enough output/edge to it, especially the bridge. so i got an invader for bridge and im currently having some problem deciding whether a dimarzio or a SD for the neck. im not in a hurry cuz the stock pickup can still manage to kick out some decent sounding solos

whats in my mind for the neck:

SD distortion/full shred/jazz/jb(jb in the neck is OEM for RR5 etc...)

dimarzio paf pro/air norton (basically it's because i see paul gilbert and john petrucci are using these pups respectively)

since i already have an invader, i kinda wanna stick to SD as well

well, suggestions please!

oh i m gonna use this ps3 mainly for detuned stuff, play lots of carcass/arch enemy/cob/god forbid...

The FullShred would be a good necj ouo with the Invader. If ya want a bit brighter sound in the neck do the JB.

thx, i kinda guessed that a jb would be brighter in the neck. since the invader is pretty dark sounding, a brighter sound is more desired~ but the body being alder is already on the bright side...does the full shred give good clarity for fast runs and arppegios?

i have yet to install it cuz i m currently not home...i cant wait!!! it wont be disappointing. lots of low end, and the harmonics dive out easily. u can search duncan invader on youtube and there r quite a few clips.

Lots of bass and low mids. I had a pair of them in an old Kelly XLR, but I didn't tune lower than Eb. I think it will be too dark for tuning lower than D.

no it will be fine, or u can try dimarzio drop-sonic as well~

nile uses invader pups both neck and bridge, and they tune to A...sounds pretty good and they have lots of fans~

The Fullshred is a relatively articulate pickup for its output. It's a lower output then the JB but it sweeter sounding too. Good clearity and good mids, decent bottom end without being muddy.

thx~i have not really come across that many artists using full shred...seems dimarzio is really popular on solo/single note stuff.. consider dragonforce, jason becker, steve vai joe satch paul gilbert john petrucci...
