I have a couple of new Jackson Imports, a DK2LE, and a BOF. I hardly play these guitars due to their tone. Even when I play them unplugged I hear it. I haven’t changed pickups because I believe that is just the way these guitars sound. (The LE has EMG81 and the BOF Duncan Design) I have some Model series Charvels, a few 90’s Jackson imports and a few USA J/C guitars and the all sound good to me. They play great but, I just don't care for the tone of those two new imports. Has anybody else noticed this or am I just crazy?

Hey Scotty,
You'll have to take this with a grain of salt, but from my understanding the early 90's Pro imports were the best of all Jackson Imports ever. I guess this would also include current imports. Perhaps it's the materials and how they build them.
Where are modern imports made by the way?
Another hobby of mine is brass model trains post WWII till now. The Japanese imports were the first and of excellent quality. Then it became "too expensive" to build them in Japan. Then it became South Korean dominated from the 80's until now. The Koreans weren't as good in the beginning but are the most sought after from the 90's to modern times. They make the best detail along with certain Japanese builders as well.
Now it's getting too expensive according to some companies and some work is beginning in China. The Chinese ones are not usually that good either. Alot of poor quality.Last edited by caesar81; 01-07-2007, 09:14 PM.
