  • Can You Identify My Jackson?

Hello everyone. I have a question about a my Jackson that I purchased around 2000 (year). The problem is I don't know what model my guitar is. I bought if from an authorized Jackson dealer. I do remember walking out of the store paying about $700.00 dollars for 1)The guitar 2)Fender amp 3)Gig bag 4)Strap 5)Cable. I purchased five things for around $700.00. If I remember correctly there was a gold sticker that said made in Japan on it, but I took it off because I didn't want anyone to see that. Why? I thought leaving that sticker on there would tell everyone I have a cheap guitar. :ROTF:

Far as I know the Professional guitars are made in Japan.
There is no Jackson logo on the neck plate, just numbers.
There are no Jackson logos on the tuning machines.

The Pickups are not branded. They are humbuckers in the neck & bridge positions. I think they are Kent Armstrong M213 in the neck & M214 in the bridge.

I have reverse headstock with reverse shark fin inlay, rosewood?

    Licensed Floyd Rose, doubling locking.

    Master tone knob
    Master Volume knob
    pickup switching 3 position
    Bolt on Neck

I've been wondering for a long time what model this guitar is and what the retail price for it was.

Thank you for any information. I've given all the information about my guitar that I've found out over the years.

Once I figure out how to add pictures, I will.

    Thank you

    Here are some Pictures.

I can't be absolutely certain, but given the time you bought it, the cheap price, the reverse headstock, Floyd, 2 hums, etc I'm guessing it could be a DX10D

btw, there's no shame in playing Japanese guitars. Many fine instruments come out of Japan. I could maybe understand you wanting to remove a sticker that said Made in India though

It might be glare from the flash, but it looks like you have the locking clamps of the nut put on rotated 90 degrees...

Sorry for not addressing your query regarding the model of your guitar.

Check out jackson1's catalog scans, they should help

Other than USA made guitars IMO the Japanese ones are the next best thing!!! In fact,i`ve had some MIJ guitars that were better than USA ones!

        Nice guitar btw!!!!

I would have to agree with the DX10D ID. Here's a scan from the 2001 catalog. The ones from the 2000 catalog are blurry.

          My gear
          87 Charvel Model 6
          86 Charvel Model 4
          93 Jackson RR EX
          93 Jackson Kelly STD
          88 Ibanez RG560
          99 Schecter Diamond C-7

I found a 2003 catalog that I had, I do think it is the Dx10D. Thank you for the help.
I'm looking to get a Kelly & a Charvel acoustic as well.

I'd like to have a Kely with Master Volume & Master Tone but the only one I see is the KE2 and the JS-30KE. The JS-30Ke felt real cheap when I played it.

I know my locking clamps should be the other way. I don't know why I put them on that way.

            Thank you, good eye.

              What's the serial # ?

DX10D's were made in India in 2000 & 2001. Starting in 2002, they were Japanese. That trem looks like a JT500, so I'm gonna predict it is an India guitar.

Wow, after I noticed the locking clamps on sideways, thats the first thing I noticed. That trem usually means MII, right? No Jackson logo on the neckplate and no logos on the tuners either? That thing just screams MF or GC special edition to me.

thats a DX10D, and it looks Indian made...looks just like my buddy's Indian DX10 except that his has the maple veneer and a mutt trem, oh and Duncan Designed pickups! its a magic guitar though...or maybe its just his hands. LOL

although it might be a GC or MF special and made in Japan as someone said. is the heel like a Strat (big block?) or is it angled? thats the big difference between my DX10 and my buddy's...his neck heel is strat-like, mine is angled.

and your nut blocks need to be turned, and too much string wound around the posts! arrgggggg!!! sorry, im kinda OCD about that stuff LOL

Hello. The serial number is 99050564. What is a GC & a MF? I noticed I had a lot of string around the posts, but I left it there. What is MII? I'm pretty sure I took off a Made in Japan sticker.... But I could be wrong. Thanks for the information.

                      GC = Guitar Center
MF = Musicians Friend (GC's online division)
MII = made in India (that's your guitar)
                      MIJ = made in Japan

2 or 3 wraps around the tuning pegs is enough.
                        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

And AFAIK MF is not under GC's umbrella any longer, since GC now sells stuff on their own site.

My PS3 was MIJ and came with a JT500. My JT500 came with a screw in arm, not a collarred one.
