I'm diagnosed with Construction Material Fetich Syndrome, sorry!
Wasn't the OP from Japan? Could be testament to their fine build quality?

To the OP, do you really live in Japan and have boughten (I am challenging Ron to correct this) a guitar that is made in Japan from a seller in Canada? That guitar has travelled the world literally!!! Can you imagine the scenario, Japanese Jackson gets imported to the US. A Canadian can buy it cheaper in the US so buys it there and brings it to Canada. Then they sell it over seas back to someone in Japan. That guitar's got more frequent flyer miles than i have racked up.

Henrik, that's the outer wall of my apartment building. As the building is steel reinforced concrete, you are right in that it is not real brick, but rather, "brick face". Do they have that in Denmark? I used to see commercials for "Garden State Brickface and Stucco" all the time on Channel 9 (WWOR) when I was growing up in NY...

Ken, here's a pic of the back of my Jackson Stars Soloist. The wings are ash on this guitar.

That's exactly the way it went down...

Import Jacksons as U.S. residents know them are not available in Japan, because someone else owns a trademark for the brand name "Jackson" in this country. Therefore, guitars made by the same factory that makes the MIJ Jacksons are sold under the brand name "Jackson Stars".

Unfortunately, Jackson Stars does not currently offer a maple boarded guitar as a production model.

Seeing all of the U.S. JCF'er's post up their DK2M's over the past few months gave me GAS like you wouldn't believe, so I had to call on a buddy to do me a favor.

Not to my knowledge. What's funny about the "brick face" is that if it were build like that (non-bonded stones), it would have very poor strength.

This is how a typical brick house is build around here: a double brick wall with room for insulation in between, total wall thickness approx. 40-60 cm.

See how the bricks "bond"? That's what makes it strong.
How much off-topic is this on a scale from 0 -10?

It looks great too! I came across other pictures of your Ash/Maple soloist while searching for old Jackson Stars posts. It certainly is clear that it's neck-thru! It's really cool that made it for you with a natural finish, even though it's not listed as an option. How's that for the customer comes first?!

I'm taking you off topic here, but I believe you mentioned that the Ash was quite heavy. Is it really noticeably heavier than, say, Alder? The distictive figuring on the wings of your Soloist are really original. Well worth the extra weight.

                  Henrik-

"Brickface" is not made with real bricks. It's just a cosmetic cover which is placed on walls to give a brick like appearance.

Double brick walls with insulation between? It must get really cold in Denmark. The coldest nighttime temperature during a typical winter where I live is probably about 2 degrees Celsius. I grew up in New York, where temps would drop way below freezing every year. I don't miss the cold, and neither do my parents... They are retired and live in Hawai'i now

                  Ken-

I didn't mean to make a generalization that ash is a heavier wood than alder. However, it is a fact that my ash soloist is quite a bit heavier than the alder DK2M and my other poplar soloists.

                  Ron-

                  How's your diet/exercise plan going?

                  Michael-

                  Thanks

Congrats, man! I like the look of the maple/black sharkie necks. I thought about getting one with the black body, but went with an older soloist instead. Rock on!
                          Cheers!

                            RockTheBoy-

I picked trans blue because I thought that the figuring of the flame maple top stood out better in trans blue/red than in trans black. And I already own a couple of red guitars, so...
