I was at work on Thursday, when my wife sent me an e-mail.
"The postman just dropped off a huge box... Did you buy ANOTHER guitar?"
I hurried home, and opened the box, to find a ton of packing material. I cleared the packing material off the top, to find another box. I pulled the inner box out, opened it, and saw another ton of packing material. I yanked out the packing material, to find a guitar case. I opened up the case, and saw, you guessed it, MORE packing material. At this point I was knee deep in packing material in my living room
To the bro (you know who you are
) who sent this guitar to me, thanks for the excellent packing job!
Anyhoo, on to the PORN!!!
It's a nice day today, so I took a couple of pics outside.

I've noticed that "Snow White" is the most popular finish for the DK2M here on the JCF, but I'm into transparent finishes myself, and I think I got one with a nice top

The back of the body is black, not dark blue as I had expected. But hey, it's the back of the guitar, so nobody's going to see it while I'm playing.

And now, a review.
Neck: Earlier this year I had read some JCF'ers' reviews saying that the DK2M neck was thick. I didn't find this to be the case. I'd say the neck thickness is between that of my (ultra thin) 1988 Ontario Dinky and that of a Charvel Model 3 (two of which I have owned). The neck is totally straight (no relief) at the moment, which I think is probably due to it having been shipped from a cold Canadian winter environment to a moderate Japanese winter environment. I will probably adjust the truss rod in a few days, after the guitar "settles" to temperatures at its new home.
Bridge: This is my first JT580LP, and although I am pleased with its ability to stay in tune after dive bombs and pull ups, I am not so crazy about the trem arm itself. The short end of the "L" shape of the trem arm is longer than those of my OFR and Schaller, so that the long part of the arm floats further away from the body. I have a couple of extra OFR arm sockets, so I will see if I can swap it out at the next string change.
PU's: I had played SL2H's with Duncan JB's, and didn't like the way they sounded. However, I like the JB in this guitar. Maybe it matches the alder body better than whatever material the SL2H's are made of. As for the DUncan Jazz in the neck, I like it better than the '59 I have in one of my other Soloists.
Body: This is probably the lightest guitar that I own at the moment. My other J/C guitars are made of poplar, basswood (that weigh about the same), and ash (pretty heavy).
As I am a total retard when it comes to recording music on my PC, I will probably post a video on youtube soon in lieu of sound clips.
