  • DKMGT Manual/ Intro

I've been reading the forum for a while now, and learning a hell of a lot, and I thought it was time to introduce myself. Besides, I need to ask a question too.
I just picked up a very nice DKMGT. What a difference from what I used to play, DAMN! I would like to get the owners manual for this, but I haven't been able to track one down. Is there a source for getting a manual for a 2005 DKMGT? Thanks in advance.
Quick intro: My Metal tastes were defined during the summer of '81. That year we had some incredible shows in Asbury Park, down on the beach at Convention Hall. The highlights being Iron Maiden opening for Judas Priest (that show is still #1 to this day) and Def Lepard opening for Ozzy. Randy was pretty effing amazing! Now I'm getting into bands like L.O.G. & Gojira. Metal has changed a lot over the years !

Your question highlighights the reason that I need a manual, or a little help from anyone here. I believe these are active pups. I know that one of the knobs pulls out and I think this is the switch that turns on the "active" circuit. I'll pop the rear cover off tonight and look for the battery connection. I have a Marshall on the way and I can't wait to play through it. It's only been 20 years !
I haven't heard many reviews of the pickups, actually the only one that I've heard wasn't that good. Either way....pups are easy to replace if I decide to in the future.

you have passive HZ type pickups. The 2006 version has active 81/85 EMG's and no turbocharger (the push/pull preamp)

yea you have the HZ passives with the turbocharger preamp. i always wondered how that would sound. i know Alexi from Children of Bodom uses the HZ and the PA-2 boost, and i do love his tone, so i know it can sound good. i just havent really spent any time with HZ's to tell if id really like them or not.

          sweet guitar man!

Thanks for the heads up on the pups. Now that I've totally n00b'd I might as well go for it:
What makes an active pick up active, that's different from the turbo charger pre amp in the 2K5 DKMGT?

Active EMGs (usually referred to as "real" EMGs) have a preamp built into the pickup itself, and are therefore "active". The HZs are passive, and can be wired to an external preamp like the PA-2 or AfterBurner.

I've got one guitar with HZs and the AfterBurner and I like the tone they have for 2-step down tuning (D). They don't sound as good to me in E as they do in D. Same for real EMGs.

And as far as I know, there's never been a manual included with any guitar. I mean, they're pretty much self-explanatory
