Pics of OFR in DK2m

If anyone has any already, I'd like to see how the OFR looks in the DK2M route, I know it fits in but is smaller, so I'd like to see if I could handle the asthetics of the mismatch. Or maybe I should just grow up and ignore it!

I'd say if the JT580-LP is working fine and staying in tune, just keep that on there. I have a DK2M that had a trem arm that would loosen up real easy. I just replaced the arm and socket with a schaller one and all is good. The JT580 on mine stays in tune very well.
Now, for the pics of an OFR in a DK2M, I'm sure someone will post some soon.

I don't know, seems silly to put a Floyd Rose in there. Doesn't look pleasing, the route isn't for that trem. Looks out of place. Do as you wish, it's your guitar, but I would just look for a guitar with a Floyd already. Anytime people look to improve on a design, I always wonder, why not just originally get the design you're looking to improve upon?!

in my case I found that if you just look for the model you want with a Floyd it can sometimes cost almost twice as much as the guitar you want without the Floyd. If I want a DK2 but want a Floyd why would I move up to a USA model just to get it? Especially if I don't have that much cash in the first place.

Spend $600 on a guitar and $200 on a Floyd. $800 total
Or end up spending $1500 on a guitar with a Floyd in it already.

If you're money concious you have to consider these things.

Currently there are no other Dinky models with a maple fretboard in production, and I don't remember any with the black sharkies.

So the only alternative would be to get a DK1 and put a DK2M neck on it... which would be way more expensive than just replacing the bridge.

It doesnt look bad at all in my opinion, it´s not like a slightly bigger than normal route makes a difference when you play it, and the DK2m is a sweet guitar no doubt, go for it!

Just do it, I wish Jackson would fit OFR's as standard. The metal on the JT580 units are just not up to the job. I have so many (including brand new ones on the shelf) coming into my shop that don't return to centre when the arm is either pulled or pushed, it's unbelievable. Also, if the knife edges do wear (on a Schaller FR II anyway), it's easy to get a new Baseplate unlike JT580's where I've had to replace the whole unit.

Not everyone is interested in paying the markup on an OFR option on a budget guitar like the Jackson Pros, and the only way to cut the cost would be to cut the only things about the guitar that customers cannot change themselves - the wood and the construction quality.

That's why import Jacksons can be turned into "almost USA" for a third the cost of a new USA - you can change the only things that Jackson skimps on - the hardware.

I guess I got lucky then. I have never had that problem with mine(after I set it up), don't know if it did it before I set it up, as soon as I got home with it, strings came off and a setup ensued. It stays in tune just as well as the OFR on my 1984 Kramer.
Now, the finish on the JT580-LP leaves a little to be desired. It does chip easily, but since it doesn't affect playability, no big deal.

I've both a 580 and an OFR in my 2 soloists and both are useable. I could do anything with the 580 that I can do on the OFR and it holds its tuning well. It rarely goes out. I've only had one small problem that I caused on the cheaper one but other than that its been fine.
I don't think putting OFRs in all guitars is a good idea at all. Then even budget guitars would cost too much to consider value for money.

The fr pro from my heartfield was nowhere near fitting in the 580lp route of my dr3, the ofr however fits perfectly. I summised that the 580lp has a baseplate of similar shape to the ofr, but designed with the profile of the fr pro. Less retooling required perhaps (in bridge construction and routing)?

And I cant begin to understand the issue of a couple mill of a route being worth not upgrading a guitar for? Especially if the bridge/route is black! Imports are great playing guitars and the bridge upgrade changes the sound and playability significantly.
