To make it that the neck would be flat to the body would require a shim about 1/8" or more thick on one side tapering to a point on the other for the guitar I received. Besides being hard to make, it would be highly visible having this wedge shaped shim between the neck and body. To me, the customer shouldn't have to fix a factory mistake that bad. Also, can you imagine trying to sell it later with a ebay auction picture closeup of a giant wedge between the neck and body....people would stay away from buying that!

The way I see it, that is more than a blem, more like a factory 2nd.

That's exactly what I told Musicians Friend, in fact the invoice with the guitar stated that a blem "has a minor appearance flaw or has been experienced". Experienced means played a little or shipped before. I told the guy that a neck that slanted is not a blem but a defect.

no wonder these defective ones were going so cheap, they were just betting most kids wouldn't notice the defect.

pretty much a bullshit deal on MF's part.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I agree, and I would add its a BS deal on Jackson's part to ship these to MF in the first place.

I got one of these too... It has the tilted neck where the high E side sits higher in the neck pocket. I thought they may have goofed on the neck pocket so I wanted to find out where they screwed up. After taking the neck off, the neck pocket measured ok on both sides. But... the neck heel is about .5mm thicker on the high E side. They screwed up the necks on these. Adding a thin shim on the Low E side will fix it and it probably won't be noticible till someone takes the neck off. I think I will send this one back. Guess this proves that there are problems over seas too. So back off on the US Charvel/Jacksons for a while

Cool, thanks for doing that. It saved me the trouble. So, I guess it wouldnt be right to sell this neck on ebay for big bucks. I was thinking of doing that then replacing it with a dk2 neck that I have. If I got at least 300 for the neck it wouldnt be a bad deal for $150. But now that I know the neck is not right, I will scrap that plan. Ive got 30 days to decide on this guitar, right?

On the back of the invoice it says "MF only accepts returns made within the first 45 days after the original shipment date."

Wow, Jackson neads to really take a step back and check out all of their QC issues here and abroad. This is very discerning for sure. These guitars should have never left the factory like that. Jack.
