Anyone that can formulate an introduction as eloquent as you have, will certainly be an asset.

How do You like Your Gothic V? I ask because I had the Gibson 500T pickup in one of my guitars and it was just all balls, great tone, how does it work in the Gibson?

You seem to have a thing for pictures of girls on your guitars.

        Welcome to JCF.

              Welcome to the board!

Cool introduction and a nice collection too.

BTW, I own a KVX10 (so basically the same guitar but without the Jenna graphic) and love it! It's the guitar that whenever I pick it up, it inspires me to play new riffs and write music. Some kind of mojo in there...

I believe the main reason for the production Jenna KV being loathed was the price, and the second thing is the fact that it is quite different to the real Jenna KV. And from there on it's just a question of liking that style...

You had a reply up front for nearly every sarcastic comment that people would have come up with. That rules. Welcome!

Very nice axes Gary and welcome!!! The concept of one's wife buying you a guitar as a gift is something completely foreign to me. I've got one of the "Why do you need another guitar!!!" wives.

You're a very lucky man. My GF wouldn't know a good guitar if a 58 Les Paul landed in her lap. She's also like Dave's wife, "You need ANOTHER guitar????"

Thank you so much, everybody, for the warm welcome! I must admit I was fearing something more along the lines of "You don't know anything about Jacksons until you have a made in the USA! The Jenna is a toy."

                      I'll try to address everybody's questions/comments:

Ripley: The finish on the '87 LP Custom Lite was called "Metallic Sunset." In person it is a little darker than the picture would have you believe, with a hint of metal flaking in the paint. It probably is the lighter pink finish you are thinking of. It is definitely not one of Gibson's burgundy finishes. Despite the "Lite" in the model name and the thinner body, it is still much heavier than my '99 LP Classic.

Gryphon: Ref 500T pickups and the Gothic V. A few years ago someone loaned me a tobacco sunburst LP Classic with a 500T in the bridge for a few months and I thought it sounded great in that guitar. (Gosh, I hated returning that guitar!) However, when I got the Gothic V (yes, another gift from the wife!), I was not happy with the tone from the bridge pickup -- just seemed noisy and harsh sounding. I figured it was the 500T, so I replaced it with a 57 Classic (which I love in my gold LP), but it still sounded exactly the same -- too loud, noisy, and harsh, even with the pickup set way low! Don't get me wrong, I love JB/Dimarzio SD type pickups, but something is just wrong with the output level of this guitar. Unplugged, it sounds beautiful, so I think there's something screwy elsewhere in that guitar's electronics which is keeping me from getting a cleaner tone out of whatever pickup I put in there. Thus, I can't really give you a good evaluation of the 500T based on the Gothic V, but as I said earlier, I played an LP extensively with that pickup that sounded great! It reminded me of the original "Dirty Fingers" pickup that Gibson put out in the 80's.

Exodus: Yes, I do have a thing for girls on guitars -- or rather, my wife does! I started the trend by getting the artwork done on my Explorer many years ago, but my wife has since bought me the rest of the girl guitars! She's also been pushing me to get some soft porn artwork done on my Beast, but it's hard to find people who do that sort of thing on guitars these days.

Finally, by popular demand, here is a pic of Jenna. And yes, that's me with her.

Welcome bro!! The 500T is one of my favorite passive pickups, nice and hot and well balanced. Jack.
