  • Looking for info on a new guitar

Hey guys. It's been a while since I've posted but I've been lurking

Anyway, bought a new Jackson the other day and I'd like some info if you've got any. Sorry but no pics available, no camera.

It says Jackson Professional on the headstock.

Dinky Std. on the Truss Rod cover.

It's dark metallic red with a bolt on rosewood board/maple neck, matching red headstock, and matching dark red dot inlays.

It has all black hardware and a Floyd-licensed trem that says Charvel by the low E fine tuner and says Made in Germany by Schaller next to the trem arm.

Clear pickguard but the only things mounted through the pickguard are the pickups. The 5-way blade, 1 volume and 1 tone knob are all mounted through the body and the controls are all rear mounted.

It has matching dark red knobs, blade tip and pickups.

    Serial # is: 929504

Its a sweet guitar, completely mint and I got it for a pretty good price. I think it is awesome but I would like to know anything else I can about it.

    Thanks guys.

92 dinky standard.Matching headstock too right? Those are very nice guitars and quite hard to find. The pickups if original should be JH-2 humbucker and J200 stacked singles.I had a white one and it was a stellar guitar.
BTW those to me are the holy grail of the early dinkys.
The quality is on par with the USA dinkys of that period.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Correct-matching headstock. Has the original pickups too. I think its awesome too. Plays and sounds great.

I'm thinking of sending the pickup to Seymour Duncan to have it rewound to Duncan Custom specs. It just sounds kind of thin as is but I'm on the fence because I usually am able to set all of my original parts aside to keep if I decide to resell but if I want to keep the color scheme then I have to have it rewound.

I'm down here in Murray, KY. I bought the guitar at Unga Bunga Music Store in Paducah.

I suppose I could buy the bobbin covers and try to put the Jackson logo on them. I'm still debating that...

That one may have come from a store in Lexington.A friend of mine had to auction off his collection Did it come with the hang tags and original HSC?
IIRC there was a small ding in the corner of the case.
He had a cobalt blue and a dark magenta both mint and 3 serial numbers apart.
I bought the white one he had and a stone finished DR-5 as well as a black DR-5 a week later I bought a model 7 sunburst tele from him.Sad he sold everything but his health prompted the sale.

No, it came from a local store in Paducah. Just the guitar, no tags and just a new generic case. This was the only one in the store and for $150 I couldn't pass it up.

I hate hearing stories like that with health induced gear sales.

Sorry if this is a hi-jack, but does anyone know why there were Charvel branded JT-590's on Jacksons like Lampposts' Dinky Standard? Didn't the Jacksons with JT-590's have Jackson logos, or was there a certain year they used Charvel logoed ones instead?

I have a Charvel Avenger and it had a Charvel branded trem and not the single locking type and not the JT-590 either, looks more like the newer JT-580 but Charvel branded. Weird as the catalog doesn't show the angled route on any Avengers I can see.

$150... !? Killer deal in my opinion. I'd have snagged it too for that price.
