Newbie's Stealth EX

This is my 1993 Jackson Professional Stealth EX. I bought it for $40 off of some kid in school who didn't know what it was. It was a little dingy and in really bad need of a setup/restring/cleaning. I'm happy with it, it cleaned up really nice and so far the only things I have added to it was a knob (one was missing) and an extra spring to keep the Floyd Rose down. At one point the headstock did break (have a pic) and was repaired but it works fine so I'm going to leave it alone.

I have a `90s Dinky with a headstock break in the same spot. Stupid cat knocked it on the floor while I was cleaning it. But no stability problems after it was fixed, so all is well.

Well the geet is in paint, I absoultely HATED that fake stone finish!! It was uglier than my ass crack! It's going to be a dark metallic red. It'll look better than the stone finish!! LMAO

I just gotta get some strings tomorrow and send it in to have the frets dressed (this geet has been around the block quite a few times) and then it's done!!

Duplicolor dries fast....I had it sanded down by 12noon so I spent the rest of the day painting. I finished it up like 1/2 hour ago. Paint is curing but it's formed a decent shell so it can be handled and such....just with care.

Man if only I would have seen this thread earlier. I have a Dark Red Metallic Stealth I don't care for and it could have worked out better for you since it was generally the color you ended up with and I absolutely love the Stone finish. I have a DR5 and a Stealth both in that finish and would have swapped my body for that one for sure.

Just curious how hard was it to get down to raw wood on that textured finish they have on there? I'd hate to think you did all that work with just sanding blocks. Belt sander would be iffy if you wanted to keep the same contour.

I bought a hacked Dinky Reverse body a long time ago and they did a homemade texture finish that looks like total crap but that stuff is on thicker than petrified honey.
