Ok I picked up the guitar last night. Serial number is 9781319. I still need to grab some pics of her, but is this serial a newer one? I am assuming it's gotta be Basswood.

I've been thinking the same thing. The only thing holding me back (aside from shelling out for a new neck :-) is the super slim shape of this neck. It feels thinner than any of my other Jacksons or Charvel... and I LIKE it. Karl

Actually I thought exactly the same thing. This neck is WAY thin. I really dig it too. Are there any Jackson bolt-on bound necks that come close?

+3 on the KVX neck thin-ness

And, GMTA: I will be replacing my KVX neck with one from a DXMG. So, it'll have binding AND the reverse headstock (plus a couple surprises) = Hella cool.

Is the serial number on the Jackson imports indicative of the build year anymore? I thought that one of the first digits was the year it was built, but since the split between India and Japan manufacture, is that still the case? There seems to be a lot of talk about differing neck thickness on the imports, and I'm just curious if there is still a way of judging when a particular guitar was made. Since the DXMG and DK2 necks seem to be popular for projects, that might be useful information, but I apparently slept in class that day.

                      DK2 remains alder.

Ok here's some pics guys. Sorry for the delay hehehe. My camera isn't the best, but here's a few of the better ones I got of it. I really dig the top on this guitar. It looks WAY cooler in person. For a cheaper V, it's not too shabby at all! I replaced the bridge pickup already with a Duncan Distortion and it sounds phenomenal. Not as tight as my neckthru KV, but close enough. I am going to replace the neck pickup next (as finances permit) with a Duncan Jazz. This will make a great "player" I'd say

Any issues with the balance on the KVX10? (neck dive or tilting away from the front of you)

Totally dude! It sure does. Not quite sure how to remedy it, but it does indeed want to touch the floor with the headstock if I let go of it. Its shocking they'd let it pass QA like that eh? Fairly important feature right there haha
