    I have an 85 in my Gibson LP as well..on both positions and it doesn't sound too bassy, because I'm thinking since it has a maple top, that it would even things out. I had a Duncan JB in an SLSMG and it made it sound bassy and boomy. Not my thing. I agree that the 85 does sound better than the 81..for metal..and for cleans as well! Best of both worlds.

        Sweet..I love the 85!!! Is it just me or does the 85 sound more brutal than an 81?

            A matter of taste really, but to me - yes, the 85 definitely has more balls than the 81.
