Many people dislike the angled baseplate But I think if uyou need or want to swap the trem then its easy enough to do as long as its a similar sized baseplate which is angled or an OFR style round one.....
TBH I slapped a gotoh into my old LTD and it didnt bother me there was a bit of space....
Personal preferance but if you can try the gutiars out it might help you choose between the two gutiars....

Well guys, I got back from playing a bunch of dinkies at a local store. I gave a White DK2M a good workout. I feel that the DK2M is much more my style, ESPECIALLY in the black transparent finish. It suits what I play to a T, and the necks feels (IMO) much better on the DK2M model than the DK2. The problem is, when I gave the trem a good workout on the DK2M (by workout, I mean divebombing so far the strings went so loose that the pickup magnets started grabbing onto them ) but the sad part is, it went out of tune pretty quickly. I then played an Ibanez S (with the ZR trem) and not to be a downer, but the ZR felt more stable. I hope this was just a problem with that particular guitar. (and maybe I was a little too abusive with the trem lol)
But I'm still worried about the dang trem. I can't help it.

Well, it was a store model (they get used & abused all the time) plus the strings are probably whack by now. Most likely that guitar is in need of a setup. Don't judge the 580 by that small experience."Quiet, numbskulls, I'm broadcasting!" -Moe Howard, "Micro-Phonies" (1945)

As long as you set te guitar up well i remember my teacher showing me how to make m old aria strat copy stay in tue better and i remmeber forcefully making that thing go but it jsut wouldnt for awhile then it did eventually go out not bad fora cheap vtrem..
and of course the ZR wills tay in tune better not only does the ball bearing pivots make it smoother it also has a return to zero device like the tremsetter or wd trem stabaliser.....
I even had little torubles with my esp ltd trem which was worn out after a few years of heavy abuse.....................
damm I want a DK2M....

It is made of cheaper material of course, it is softer and lighter, but so far i cant complain and you should not worry about it, just get the guitar and you will be happy
Oh, my Dk2M is in transparent black and it looks great!

I was at my local guitar center this weekend trying a DKMG again that I had my eye on for some time, and the strings on it were completely rusted and old. I asked a saleman if they ever change the strings, to which he says no. (real downer as the trem would not stay in tune either) Turns out this was the same DKMG I was playing back at christmas when I was deciding between it and the DK2M. The M just felt better (love the maple neck) and sounded cleaner with brighter tone.
I think if the strings were changed on the white DK2M you played, you'd get different results."Some days you're the dog, other days you're the hydrant." - on the back of the business card for Bella the Pomeranian

Although I'm sure there are duds to be found with any make and model of guitar, I generally have VERY low expectations for the setup and stability of trem-equipped display guitars. My DK2M arrived from Matt's Music ready to play out of the box. When I bought my NOS USA DR2 from Guitar Center years ago, it had hung up on the wall out of reach of the usual boneheads, and I was able to divebomb the JT580LP with perfect return to pitch. But when I went to another GC and bought a USA RR2 that had hung on the wall for years, the springs had lost all their tension and it still had rusty stock strings. Most shops don't do anything to maintain their guitars once the initial setup is done.
I tried an Ibanez with the ZR trem, and I *love* the stability, but unfortunately the guitar itself just didn't do anything for me. If I needed a guitar for heavy trem use in the studio, I might consider picking one up. As for the DK2M, I'm incredibly happy with mine. It's the first JB-equipped guitar that I've truly been satisfied with in terms of tone, and the trans black finish looks really classy with the maple board and black binding.

Trans lacks are abstards to take hotos of, they can look any kind of colour i know some ESP's I've seen look purpleish in person jacksons tend to look dark grey, this is mainly due to the wood discolouring it....
I think trans reds and blues tend to be more consistent but jackson pros seem to have a very decent trans black finish....
