Got an LTD M-1000 deluxe. The guitar plays nice but as you said, the fret job/bindings are horrible!

The thing is, you can get an M200 or MH250 for about 300 bucks, I dont believe jackson carries anything comparable at all. The thing that really makes the difference to me is the neckthru construction, I cannot play bolt on guitars and do not own a single bolt on anymore, I got rid of them because i hate the sound of them. I do not mind rosewood fingerboards, it really doesnt make a huge difference to me that way, I have ebony on my RR24 but it really just seems like its for looks, which i dont care too much about. The playability is the most important thing, and neckthru is where its at for me. Jackson doesnt seem to have any Neckthru instruments for under 800 bucks, 500 used. So yes, ESP/LTD do pwn in the bang for buck area, But I'd easily take a customshop Jackson over a customshop ESP anyday, and they would be similar priced. I just think jackson needs to lower the prices and up the standards on the lower end. Neckthru X series, all with 24 frets and floyds, and available in all body shapes. And keep them around 700 bucks new, that would Pwn ESP/LTD (whatever you want to call them).

Actually for a Jackson and ESP custom with more or less the same specs, the Jackson custom is over $1300 more now (list price almost $3,000 more). Rosewood makes a huge playability difference and tone difference, it is a very warm sound soft wood, while ebony is very bright and hard and is much smoother under your fingers.

I wouldnt worry about Rosewood vs Ebony as much as Neckthru Construction vs Bolt On
