I've seen them on guitars before.
It's supposed to add more mass to the trem for better sustain.
I like how they say it's made of special "bell metal"... it's called brass.

As I'm sure you guys have already read at the URL sent by Patricef, Performance Guitars in Hollywood has been around for many years, and has made guitars for Warren Demartini, Frank Zappa, Dweezil Zappa, Slash, Billy Sheehan, and (I have heard) George Lynch. The Big Block sounds like a good idea and it should work (in theory at least). I read it and I've seen the install.
You have to widen the block pass through route in the body.
No mods are needed to the Floyd other than swapping the block out.
And they are made of brass, not bronze (bell metal) as the guy stated in the article.-RickComment
