soc monki if your trem does not come back to pitch after an up-pull your nut may be loose or you have worn pivot studs, worn knife edges.Maybe even the saddles are loose.Could also be the stud anchors are loose in the body allowing it to move slightly.
actually, its pretty common on Licensed Floyd bridges...nearly every one ive ever played (mine and others) dont come back to pitch after a pull up. the anchors are fine, knife edges are fine as well, nuts are tight, necks are tight. believe me, ive gone over the guitars several times. saddles are loose, yes, but thats a licensed trem for you! LOL theyre just not made to the same quality specs as something like and OFR, and i can deal with that drawback.

hell, even Ibanez Edge trems dont come back to pitch correctly most of the time. just check out ibanezrules.com and all the things he does to get the trems to come back to pitch after a pull up.

not like its a big deal though...after pulling up a slight dive and its fine. for most people i doubt they would notice it was out of tune anyways, im just picky i suppose.

        DK2M Floyd Reliability?

        > The Edge was a kick-ass trem,no doubt about it unless the quality got bad. I'd actually consider buying an Ibanez if they were still offering them. Tommy D.

Oops sorry I got the numbers wrong. Yeah I couldn't find the floyd with the 32mm block.

you must have got some really good ones then...ive never played one that didnt come back out of tune after a pull up. thats why i always fine tune after diving the trem, so ill always be able to go right back to tune after a pull up. i do the same on my OFR, but out of habit i think. it comes back perfectly after a pull up.

For the topic at hand, yes the JT580s are fine trems that you should get years of enjoyment out of. I have a CX391 with one thats 15 years old and still works great, and a Kelly that has a JT580 that is at least 10 years old and shows very little wear. go for it!

Are you sure this isn't something you're doing setup wise?

pretty sure...ive set my OFR up using the same process and it comes right back, but neither of my 580's come back after a pull up. posts are both equal height, trem is paralell with the body, and ive even used the chapstick trick, although i havent done so in a while. its never really bothered me to have to push the trem down a tad.
