I still can't get over how heavy it is. The body is the same thickness as a KV2 (about 1 3/4"), so I guess all the weight comes from the extra thick neck and gigantor sized headstock. I'm going to have to start working out.

It's hanging on my wall beside the KV2 and it makes the KV2 look like it's an Extreme KV2. Now are these small... or are they just far away?

Did you use a funny lens for that or something, it all looks out of proportion to me... everything.

So have you put that kelly on the scales yet?

Some of the USA Deans weigh up to 12lbs.

Might just be the kelly is facing towards the camera and the 2 others are at an angle... ?

Dave is right: we used a wide-angled lens, which appears to have distorted the image. If the light is right later in the week, I'll try again with a regular lens.

I don't have a weighing scales suitable for the guitars. I put them on a cheap-o set of Aldi scales, but all that was good for was saying that the KE7 was heavier than the others.

This is a product of the JCF and one that wouldn't have happened without it. Thanks everyone.

I'll forgive you that it cost three times the cost of what I originally planned to buy.

            SHAPE : Kelly, 7-string
BODY : Alder with Quilt Maple Veneer
            COLOUR: Transparent Black Sunburst
            NECK : Maple Thru-Neck
FINGERBOARD : Bound Ebony with Reverse Mother of Pearl Sharkfin Inlays
HEADSTOCK : Quilt Veneer (matching body) with Mother of Pearl Jackson Stars inlay
            BRIDGE : Tunamatic.Strings Thru-Body
PICKUPS : Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2-7(Front) Seymour Duncan Custom TB-5-7 (Rear)

First impressions is that the quality is every bit as good as my two USA select guitars: fan-bloody-tastic.The wide neck is going to take some getting use to though.

Now what the hell am I going to do with the seventh string?

Right on Ken! I recieved my Rhoads on the 8th (two days after it was handed office, from Japan to SF to my house in two days, those guys are fast)

Very cool, I'm happy to see that people have been getting their stars with out issue My rhoads plays like a dream, I love it. Now looking at yours I need to go order a quilt top. That Kelly is awesome, nice order and nice job by Jackson Stars

I'll post pics of mine at some point when I have more then 15 minutes at home in between work, gigs and that stuff uhm... what do you call it? oh yeah sleep.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

yes...the Stars are of better quality than the MIJ Jackson in general due to the higher spec, materials etc. probably more attention during the process also. Imagine the Stars are being pushed as direct competitors to other Japanese brands like ESP, Ibanez sold domestically. Not budget stuff at all.

If you can try J1 against J2...you will also feel the difference also.

Excellent stuff Jerry! I had been wondering if your guitar had arrived and I'm delighted it has.

You KNOW that The Mitch and Nazgul are going to demand photos of your 24 fret RR, right?! You may as well forget about getting any sleep...

Nods, I need to take some better shots then what I have. I'll do it this weekend while it's still nice. here's three though they were done quickly.

You know the only issue I have is that the case really isn't all that well form fitting to the guitar, there's about an inch of space inbetween guitar body and the case. I'll probably pick up a case from GC or something soon so it's more snugg. But other then that I love the guitar. I am just sort of wishing I hadn't given up on the MOP Jackson Stars inlay now, i wanted matching headstock and they wouldn't do MOP on it, of course after seeing the 7string Kelly with the quilt I think my next one will be something other then a solid color, i just really dig white Rhoads

Super cool guitar. But I think there's still something missing from those early pics....... HARP...., my good friend at work is from Galway (probably didn't spell that right) and he introduced me to half and halfs (ei Black and Tans)and I just can't get enough.
