  • Dk2s Sustainiac Questions

hi, i may be buying a dk2s in the future and i have a few question about this model.does the sustainiac stealth driver/pickup in the neck function like a normal pickup when the sustain effect is switched off? does the bridge pickup function as normal when the battery is low or dead to the sustainiac stealth pickup? and does the sharkfin inlays on this model look plain white or do they have a pearly look?

    thank you,

I think it's pretty self-explainitory. Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Hi and welcome to the board. What he meant was, it is generally a good idea to first introduce yourself to the members on the board and then ask your questions. Just saying hi is not introducing yourself. Anyway, you will find that this board is a bit more polite than most. No, you don't need to tell your life story, just a few words about who you are, what you play, musical interests, etc. Oh and one requirement... whenever you buy new gear, do not even think about posting unless you have pics.

Edit: Unfortunately I don't know much about the sustainiac, so I'm of no real help there...

I never did anything other than say "hello". I'm not sure why he's being dissected here. C'mon guys chill out.

Hmmm, sometimes the various modes are finicky to what string you're using however I've not tried to turn up the gain on the trim pot yet. I must be lazy or something.

Overall, it works great and I've seldom gone for the sustain and have it not deliver. The guitar itself has a bit of a "stiff" feel to the action even with .009's but nothing major. For the money, it's a really cool guitar to have if you're into the sustainer thing.

The sustainer acts as a normal single coil when turned off. I've not tried it yet, but I assume it would stop working in the same way if you had a similar config like the discontinued DK2FS or DKMG with their built in preamps, such that you get no output whatsoever from the guitar if the battery is removed/dead.

I wonder how a mini-hum and a sustainiac would work together in a neck PU cavity - anyone tried that?

yeah, the dk2s does sound interesting.however i'm finding out that its hard to get ahold of. you can get it through sam ash however they only have it in trans red with chrome hardware. i would like to get one in trans blue since i already have a mockingbird in trans red.so right now i'm torn between buying the dk2s or the dk2 dinky pro. one thing i have noticed is that some of the dk2 and dk2s guitars come with seymour duncan and some have the duncan design pickups. are the duncan design pickups okay? i am not familiar with seymour duncan pickups at all.i had a dimarzio super distortion put in the bridge of my mockingbird and i love this pickup.
