The Duncan Designed pups are only found in the pre-2006 models which are disconitinued and have chrome hardware. Since the Sustainiac functions as a normal single coil pup when turned off, you may as well get a 2006 model, unless you're happy with the DD's. I've just had another jam on my 2006 DK2S and the harmonic mode is fucking addictive! For your viewing pleasure Jaydog:

Ok I'll pimp mine again...Fittingly, it's resting on the "pimp couch" I had in my old house. It also has an Original Floyd Rose.

I was told today there are in fact THREE versions of sustainer: 1) the original (and very expensive) Sustainer found in the Jackson PC1, 2) the Sustainiac (apparently made by Floyd Rose?! hmm...), and 3) the Fernandes. Is this true? Can "2)" be bought seperately and adapted for a 2 hum guitar? Or is it only the Fernandes model you can get?

Hi and welcome to the JCF....lots of great knowledge here! I just sold my DK2S because I needed to buy an amp quickly.

I've not tried it yet, but I assume it would stop working in the same way if you had a similar config like the discontinued DK2FS or DKMG with their built in preamps, such that you get no output whatsoever from the guitar if the battery is removed/dead.
This is not the case with the DK2S. The battery only affects the sustainer the bridge pickup would not be affected if there's no battery.

Actually, there are 4. Original Jackson, Floyd Rose, Sustainiac (which may or may not be a Floyd Rose design but is MUCH cheaper) and Fernandes
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

                Hi wilkinsi,
Yes you can put a single next to the sustainier on the single coil sized driver in a humbucker route.
Many pro's do this including Neal Schon.

I believe the Sustainiac came first. The Floyd was next, and then the Fernandes. If I'm not mistaken, Jackson uses the Floyd design.

I'm really confused now. I was told the one Jackson use is $1000. Maybe on a PC1, not a DK2S.

Anyone have pics of both a PC1 and a DK2S with covers on and off to see if the units are the same?
