  • COW-7 nosedive?

I just received my COW 7 Black, and it plays and sounds amazingly, however the nose tends to dive, putting the guitar in an almost horizontal position when let loose.
I use a leather strap, but it's a bit slippery on the inside. Still, it shouldn't nose dive should it?

If you use a different strap like the other Levy's stuff it won't nose dive much. It will a little bit but you won't really feel it and it's still comfy.

If not, try moving the strap button on the top horn to the back or something (if you don't mind doing that)

That's really wierd. This'll be the first time I've heard a dinky-style guitar suffering neck dive...

I can imagine that to happen, because of the thinner body of the COW DKs, the light mahogany, and especially the bigger neck and headstock on the DK7.

My COW DK6 does a very slight neckdive, too. I don't notice it at all with my leather strap, and it is NOTHING compared to the infamous KE3 or KVX10 neckdive, but it is there.

It is a Levy's strap actually, one with a ball chain attached to it. My other leather strap has a rough side on the inside and this one doesn't dive at all.
Guess its time for another strap

7-strings tend to be slightly more neck-heavy than their 6-string cousins. My old COW-7 wasn't especially noteworthy that way.

+1. Even my Mark Morton model is a little neck heavy. It's basically because the body is chambered, so it's lighter than the neck. I use a Planet Waves leather strap that keeps it from diving.
