I'm going to photoshop it, I'm thinking of this:
Archtop
Maple laminate body
Possible neck through
String through body (no trem)
Brass mounting block, like on the Bich
If not neck through, toying with another thck
brass "mounting" block
on the neck, where it fits the cavity, with angle adjustments
HS "surface mount" pups.
A lot of ideas borrowed from other guitars.
I think I can make a really slim, graceful arch, and still
keep the mass I want by using maple.
I like to do things the hard way, I guess.

The only problem was that the clear/satin neck finish extends up to the fretboard edges, so the stain wouldn't stick there. But the fretboard surface itself turned out great. A little dab of acetone on a q-tip was sufficient to clean off the dot inlays. Just make sure to tape off the entire neck so as to avoid staining parts you didn't intend to. I didn't mask off the frets, as they needed polishing anyway.
