While other's GAS, I'm thinking of making a maple body in that kind of
thin contour.I Guess I'm suffering from GBS (Not Gear Bull-sh**), Gear Building Syndrome. I love that shape.
The body is Ash. If you change your mind and don't want to spend the time making a body, there's a killer Stealth body on the bay right now. I'd hit it if I didn't exceed my g.a.q. (gear acquisition quota). It's got a blue flame paintjob, and the ding isn't a big concern:

        Thanks, that's tempting.
I'm going to photoshop it, I'm thinking of this:

        Archtop
        Maple laminate body
        Possible neck through
        String through body (no trem)
Brass mounting block, like on the Bich
If not neck through, toying with another thck
        brass "mounting" block
on the neck, where it fits the cavity, with angle adjustments
        HS "surface mount" pups.
A lot of ideas borrowed from other guitars.

I think I can make a really slim, graceful arch, and still
keep the mass I want by using maple.
I like to do things the hard way, I guess.

I don't have any close-ups, but it's in the middle here:

The only problem was that the clear/satin neck finish extends up to the fretboard edges, so the stain wouldn't stick there. But the fretboard surface itself turned out great. A little dab of acetone on a q-tip was sufficient to clean off the dot inlays. Just make sure to tape off the entire neck so as to avoid staining parts you didn't intend to. I didn't mask off the frets, as they needed polishing anyway.

That looks really good - love the collection! Thanks for posting a pic - I'm sold and the board's going to get the treatment this weekend.
