Michael - from what I understand, when the sustainer is off, the neck pup works like a regular, passive neck pup. I think the sustainer works from any pup position, i.e. if you have the middle or bridge pup on and turn the sustainer on, you get the sustain effect.
Jwoods, prolly a trans black or solid red but the top on this one is pretty nice. I'm just not a big fan of blue. Also you are correct on how the sustainer system works.

      awesome thanks so much people
tomorrow i should come back home with it .. pics will be posted ASAP

might sound silly but im excited.. this is a big step.. i am only in my last year of high school so i dont have huge guitar collections like most people do here.

this is a nice addition to the fake les paul i have and the jackson dk2 pile o skulls. i wish my dk2 had black hardware like the dk2s.. i love it.. chrome looks cheesy but i can deal with it =]

my friends ask me.. 'why the hell would you need 3 guitars??'
something you can't really explain to people who don't play

      XD
If the crowd is shouting for an encore, but the sound guy is shaking his head, ignore him and play anyway

...so apart from the hardware color and the sustainiac (+ extra controls for it) how does a dk2s compare to a regular dk2?

chrome looks cheesy but i can deal with it =]
I like chrome hardware on a black body. it just..... shines

well the neck is a bit different on the dk2s i dont know why..
they're both maple but on the dk2s its much lighter and feels thicker too for some reason

You're probably thinking of the DK2FS (FireStorm)?

              alright.. GOT IT TODAY!
pretty happy with it..sound is so much beefier than the DK2.. those real duncans really make a difference

the sustainer is fun but a bit annoying.. sometimes it starts to feedback and all u hear is feedback with no ability to control the sond anymore
i gotta learn how to control it more
feels a tiny bit heavier than the dk2 and neck is a bit lighter and feels thicker for some reason

pics coming soon.. charging those damn batteries

I get that too, but you can use that to your advantage by letting the feedback sound before starting your riff at the beginning of a song for example.

I found that too, but not hard to adapt to.

Avoid rechargeable batteries. They are prone to leaking. So long as you leave the Sustainiac off when not in use, your batteries will last months.
