PS-4 (Performer series) is a decent guitar. The hardware sucks and so does the trem.
Your JS-30KE is basically the same quality. The JS line replaced the PS (Performer) line.
Both are/were bottom of the line Jackson imports.

The PS-4 itself is not bad at all from a build quality, you just need to get past the cheap electronics, sub par hardware and that abortion of a trem (JT-500).

Yeah, if you love that JS, you'll like the PS.

I have had a PS2 and a JDR94(first year of the ps4 under a different name). I loved them both even the crappy pickups.:ROTF:

Just change the trem on it (worthless piece of JUNK) and you'll have a very decent guitar. That's what i did with my ps2 which is basically the same guitar without a pickguard, and h/s/s instead of h/s/h, and the dots on the fretboard are placed differently.

Yep. But like i said in some other thread (kv2 vs. bc.rich beast i think) bottom/mid line jacksons are about equal to "top of the line" anything else

Well, I think you have to differentiate between Japanese ones and Indian ones,

The Japanese ones were made in the same factory as all the Model series and Professional series. I have a Japanese one and I actually prefer it over the DK2M
because it has a less fat neck and HSH configuration, In fact PS4s are my dream guitar, so don't buy too many.

Yeah make sure it's a Japanese one. The Performer series are cool decent guitars imo.

Indian made? I know the korean made ps[n] had a thicker neck than the japanese ones, but did they have them also made in India?

                    JDR-94 = PS-4
                    JSX-94 = PS-2

The JS series didn't replace the Performers - they coexisted. I had a JS1 (Guitar Center "exclusive" version of the JS20) at the same time that the PS-4 was still in production. Catalog scans show both lines for a few years.

                    1998: http://audiozone.dk/CatalogScans/Jack1998/index.htm

I almost bought a PS-4 numerous times, but I wasn't quite sold on Floyds for my first couple years of playing and decided to pass. I still see them being played by touring bands fairly often.

Nope. One year in Korea, and the rest in Japan. But the JS series has been made in India, and previously in Taiwan or Indonesia. My old JS1 was one of those.

Oh, I didn't know that I thought the non Japanese ones were made in India, but only one year of Korean production means alot of MIJ ones out there, and they usually go for 200 -300 which is a great deal and I've actually grown to prefer the offset dots. So yeah they are good!

The whole Korean thing didn't really last long for Jackson. The Performers were built there the one year, some of the Charvettes and low-end Charvels I think, and maybe a couple of other oddball models. The business in India basically took off with the X-series introduction as I recall.
