Bad news: apparently Ishibashi are not taking semi-custom orders on Jackson Stars... at least for the moment. Something to do with "the dealer" changing. I don't know if this effects other Japanese dealers.

I recently got a "final" quote from Ishibashi for another guitar, but I sat on it too long. I went to finalize it and put the order through but... no go.

Shit! Hope you will get your dream axe from anywhere else
Kind of weird, I just talked (E-mailed) about another guitar with them a day ago. But that wasn't a semi-custom, it's probably different for the standard models RR-J1 etc. If you want one of those (which I'm sure are great as well) they'll probably be able to help you with that. but for what I want it's automatically a custom do to the nut width.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil
Yamano trading, who sells Fender USA and Fender Japan guitars in Japan, has taken over the marketing of Jackson Stars in Japan. The guitars will still be built at the same factory (Chushi Gakki), though.
I will be going to the International Musical Instrument Fair (the Japanese version of NAMM) in Yokohama next month. If you guys have questions that you want me to ask the guys at the Jackson Stars booth, post them here or PM me.

Cool, you're going there?
Shoot some pix please
Try to find out if anything stated in this thread is true...
I didn't mean to be alarmist. I received e-mail yesterday, having settled on a semi-custom guitar about two weeks ago. The communication I received said that they couldn't take semi-custom orders now as the "Jackson dealer will be change to another company". It then implied that the situation was a temporary one and they hope to be able to start taking semi-custom orders again when the new dealer is "settled".
Maybe it only effects semi-custom guitars. Also, maybe other retailers that are willing to ship guitars outside Japan are uneffected. I certainly don't know.

They probably don't want any six-months-orders hanging in the air when the dealer change goes into effect... so I think this will only be temporary.
Atsushi, could you please ask if there's any major changes going to be made concerning semi-customs and customs, as well as the regular Stars production line. Even if the guitars are still built at Chushin Gakki, "marketing takeover" sounds like there might be changes to the line in the future.
I sure hope not, or for the better...
Interesting stuff QR, maybe ask the Jackson Stars CS orders will still be available to customers from overseas (through a dealer like Ishibashi ofcourse). And why the hell did they stop making non-recessed floyds and if they're thinking of starting them again .
hksb_alex, where do you get your information from? Do you know anything more?
