    I had another e-mail from Ishibashi saying it would be "a few month" before the new dealer situation is resolved. Interestingly, I asked about a Caparison and they said they couldn't sell me one "Because the maker prohibit to export strictly".

    QR can you ask what else is made in the factory? That is, if the rumour that they make the Caparison bodies and necks, and B.C. Rich guitars, in the same factory is true.

      I hope this won't have any influences on orders in the making. I sent an email to Ishibashi yesterday, but no reply yet.

        Good point! I'm wondering that too!

            There appears to be something on the Stars website about the pause in custom and semi-custom orders. My Japanese is not good enough to translate it. If a Japanese speaking JCFer can tell us what it says, I'm sure it'd be appreciated:

            One more question for you QuantumRider. One that originates from Toejam. On the Jackson Stars website it has a picture of Mark Morton with an MM1 that appears to have a "Jackson Stars" logo, but when I asked a couple of dealers about it, they said they weren't for sale in Japan. Are they going to sell the MM1 in Japan and, if so, can it be semi-customed?

            I don't know, which is why it would be interesting if QR could put it to the Stars chaps. I first heard the rumour from this fan-written Caparison history:

              I'm sure your order will be fine. It looks like there's nothing odd going on, just the expiry of the dealer contract. I'm sorry I didn't get my order in on time...

                  Welcome to the forum. I'm sure Ishibashi would be willing to ship to Canada (so long as the manufacturer doesn't stop them shipping outside Japan). They even have their used gear up on a webpage in English, so that international buyers can join in on the fun:

                  However, they're not taking orders for custom or semi-custom Jackson Stars at the moment. Given the announcement on the Jackson Stars website, I don't think any dealer will be taking semi-custom orders during the change in "dealer" arrangements. It's possible no retailer will be allowed ship outside Japan after the new arrangements are in place. Who knows? We'll all just have to wait and see.

                    I see. Well I hope that's not the case, I have been planning on placing an order since over a year ago and I would regret so much that I didn't order sooner if the new management prevents retailers from shipping outside Japan.

                      Many businesses place restrictive selling conditions on their retailers. Just look at Gibson; they won't even let their dealers advertise their stock online! With the Japanese guitar manufacturers, some of these restrictions are consequence of the law and are, IMO, reasonable. Continuing on the Gibson theme, you can buy an ESP Les Paul in Japan, where Gibson don't have any right to compain, but clearly ESP can't have their Les Paul's sold in the States or they'd be sued.

                      Jackson Stars are really only meant for the Japanese market (although I don't know if Jackson secured the rights to the shapes in Europe), so I don't think it would be unreasonable for the retailers to be told they can't ship internationally. Of course, this command may not happen. We'll find out in "a few months".

                      I feel your pain regarding the waiting a year and not acting on it, but even if the dealers won't ship to you directly from Japan, there's always another way: develop a friend in Japan who is willing to buy the guitar for you locally and then ship it to you.

                              I remember that one from somewhere...

                              Anyway, if it's a neck-through...first two numbers are the year. I had a Jackson Stars with serial 05xxxx => 2005 .
