Sorry guys, I've been in Australia for a week, playing with the Koalas and the Kangaroos.

      Shadowcat, Naz, and Ken-

I will ask the guys and let you know. The Musical Instrument Fair will be held November 1-4. I plan on going on Sunday the 4th, so I will post the answers I get after that

How much of a chance do you have of running into a 2ndhand one in Japan at a random guitar store??

I see used Jackson Stars, Grover Jacksons, and Charvel Model Series guitars all the time at my local guitar shop.

                              hunter1970-

As the logo on the headstock is silk screened and not MOP, it is not a top of the line model.

An RR-J2 (which is the second most expensive RR in the Jackson Stars line) costs 126000yen ($1118). The quilt top and quilt headstock are probably custom options, so add 10000yen ($88) to that, and you have a $1206 guitar, if it was new.

                              So Ron was pretty close

QR, you're the expert (no doubt about that), but are you sure it's a semi-custom RR-J2? It has a lot of custom features. Most notably it's rear-loaded and it has a flat-top with body binding. Because of the body binding, I would have thought it has probably got a quilt cap rather than a veneer.

Even if it were a semi-custom RR, my guesstimate would be higher than QR's based on quotes I've got and the guitar I bought: 126k Yen for a RR-J2; 17k for quilt veneer body; 5.5k for matching quilt headstock; 4.5k for the reverse headstock; 9k for ebony board instead of stripped ebony; 14k for the hard case in lieu of the standard soft case; probably no charge for the pirahna inlays and the single hum.

So I'd guess at least 176k yen (~1600 USD), but I don't know how to guess the price for it being rear-loaded or having a bound flat top. Given how expensive painted bevels are, I'd expect that all in it was about the 200k yen (~1800 USD) mark.

One thing is for sure, it's an awesome looking guitar.

Edit: due to log-cabin/forest fun, I probably won't have acces to the Internet until next week, so I'm not being intentionally rude if anyone replies!
