Must visit US or Jap...buy guitars and earn some cash with resale..
Come visit us! Stock up on guitars and sell them in your country for reasonable $$$. I know some people prefer mom and pop stores over GC, but there's no denying that GC has some really rock bottom deals.
Called the GC in Tampa which is the closest GC to where I live, and he had a black one he held for me to pick up last Friday. I was a little disappointed when I got there and he gave me the guitar and the edges there were a few dings all the way to the wood. I tried to bargain further but he said there was no profit margin to go any cheaper. I did get a gig bag with it though so not a bad dealio.
I tried to get one of the 2 white ones hanging on the wall for the same price, but they were full price $599, and I asked if I could just take the white one for the $268 price and he told me the story of why some colors get blown out while others like the white ones were full price.
So many wall-hangers at GC are really badly abused: nicks, dings, broken strings, missing knobs, etc. I'd be very reluctant to buy one off the wall, sight unseen. With my DK2M, I got to unpack it right out of the shipping box in the store to make sure it wasn't banged up.
What you ran into was The "Manager's Special" weekend at Guitar Center In Highland Park. They called me about them, but I have a black one and a red one. Only the white ones really sell there. I bought the last Marshall Mode Four Amp for $100.00. What a sweet deal!!
That was the price also at both Guitar Centers on Long Island this weekend too. I just wish I had the extra cash to float one myself. I had my choice of all 3 colors between the 2 stores! I'll have to check in a few days when I might be able to scare up the cash and see if they are still on sale.
Guitars:
Charvel: USA Pro Mod Slime Green
1988 Model 2,
Jackson: Dinky HSS 'Blue/Orange Flame'
RR3
Gibson: 1978 Les Paul Spl Dbl Cut
1992 LP Studio 'Lite'
2005 SG Special

Where are they located on LI? How are they on trades-ins?
Don't need to be into pointies to buy that. Just into money. You could have bought it and made an easy three to five hundred bucks that day.
I would do that now. At the time, though, I didn't have very much money.
In fact, someone actually did that for that particular RR1. I saw it on sale used at another store for $999. I know, because it had pretty badly exposed fret ends that I immediately recognized at the 2nd store.
FWIW, the Burbank, IL GC had three on the floor at the sale price today.
And I got a new, in the box Inferno Red at the Country Club Hills, IL store three days ago; they also had a black left in the box, and one of each in very nice shape hanging up.
for those of you who's local GC has run out of $267 DK2Ms, you can still order one by phone. black, red and even snow white ones are available at the blowout price, but you must call the 866 number

Just gave them a call. The guy on the phone wasn't even aware that the stores were selling the red and black Dk2M's for that cheap. he was saying "they shouldn't be doing that!" His inventory did not even have the red or black DK2M listed. Only white and he wouldn't sell them for $268.
