  • WRMG jack placement...?

    Hey guys!

I'm about to order a WRMG.

Where is the jack located, upper or lower wing?

How is the balance when standing up? Is it anything like a USA Rhoads (by that I mean if it hangs at a fairly similar angle)?

The new models have the upgraded trem, right? IIRC, they sport a hardened baseplate...?

It's on the lower wing. Only the WR1 has it on the upper. Balance is like a Dinky/Soloist! No trem baseplate upgrade on MG series, only the Pro Series got that. Pickups were passive EMG-HZ's, now active 81/85, Turbocharger ommited.

Thanks alot for the quick (and great) reply!

Now the only question is whether I should get a solid black, or transparent black one... It really is a hard decision. Any thoughts on that?

They're doing the trans colors a lot better these days IMO. I'd get trans black, and I'm not a fan of trans black

The trans blue pics I've seen look great - you can actually see the flame (unlike the PC-3 Chlorine I had where you had to be out in the sun to see the flame)

The 2006 WRMG only has one trans-finish which is trans-black, which is disappointing. I'd sooner have trans green or trans-blue. And I'm equally miffed that WRMG-M in trans-green burst didn't materialise either.

good luck trying to get one in the near future. I was looking for one recently and they're as rare as hens teeth atm in the UK.

I've aquired a black WRMG (I'll post a separate thread with pics etc later), and it seems nice. However, one thing that suprised me is the really beefy neck... not at all like I expected. Does any other WRMG owners agree?

Yes. Noticed this when I compared it against a DXMG and KE3.

Thanks man, I almost got worried that mine was some kind of one-off mistake!

I'm almost a bit disappointed, I had a DXMG a couple of years ago, and that neck was really "Jackson", this has more of a Fender profile... It plays well, but I would've preferred if it was more slim.

If you like the look, you could always get another (thinner profile-) jackson neck (24 fret) and bolt that on in place of the neck that came as standard. In other words, get a DXMG neck if you like sharkies and reversed headstock or a DK2 neck if you want the same but a normal standard headstock.
