It's poplar. I documented the entire restoration which was finished earlier in the year, and posted it before. Here's the link again:

Excellent writeup Axewielder! You saved that guitar from almost certain death, IMO. It looks sharp, and you have exactly what you want. No better deal than that!

I am still waiting on my MOP delivery from Australia (for my RR3). I have been practicing cutting sharkies out of Delrin material. I know Delrin is MUCH softer than MOP, but practice in cutting the shapes is what I am looking for. So far, so good...lol! I am going to do a write up on changing over to MOP inlays, so if some other crazy person like me wants to try it then they have something to refer to.

Getting a custom guitar made for you is great, but you are limited by what the manufacturer will do (and not do). Making or modifying one (or having one done for you) to your specifications gives you a way to get exactly what you want out of your guitar. If you don't like it then just dive in again until you get it right, just like Axewielder did with his. You also have the satisfaction of knowing that your guitar is unique.

                  Hell no!

The KV1/Pro are the coolest guitars ever! You should leave it as is.
                  I wish my hair-color was EDS :/

I want to refinish my KV2 and swap out the floyd for a kahler, but I don't know if I could go so long without playing it...

Ive got a black KV Pro. By no means in mint condition, has been played well and has a good amount of dings and whatnot. None the less, I love the guitar, but Im not big on guitars without trems. I love Kahlers though, so Im going to add a Kahler trem in place of the Kahler hardtail.

The way I look at it, Im not selling the guitar, probably ever. If for some reason I ever wanted to put it back to stock, all Id have to do is take off the trem and put the hardtail back on... the rout wouldnt be noticable. Ill be adding an after the nut lock too.

That, and Im not big on the smaller frets either. Once I get good at fret work, Ill be doing SS Jumbo frets.

                          Whachya think?
I would love to have a KV Pro...do not change the bridge...just get a different guitar. That guitar is perfect the way that it is...there are so many other KV's out there with a trem system,,just get one of those.

Eh well most of you will be happy to know Ive decided not to do it... Ive got too many other guitars with Floyds and Kahlers, no reason to mod this one.

                            Case closed!
