This guitar isn't being discontinued that I've seen. The limited one that Musician's Friend and GC had is all gone (dammit), but other than that, they are still selling well. My EDS has a little garbage int eh neck bout, but after cleaning it up, it's been fine. After throwing the OFR in there, it's easily as good a player as any bolt-on guitar made in the under 2k range. I don't own any guitars over 2k because A.) I like to play mine, and B.) I like to find good deals on old shredders rather than new re-makes of the original. Seriously, I'm not knocking high-end guitars; I own a few. I'm just saying this guitar is a hell of a value, kick-in-the-pants axe for cheap. If it needs a little work to shine it up, no big deal because it's going to play like a beast and knock your socks off.

hELL yEAH! Got the bengal today and the neck looks to be in a prefect seat. One question I do have. This is the first guitar i've owned with active pups. Is it normal to have a little more static through the amp? It's not alot but a little more than my other guitars with passive pups. I notice when I turn away from the amp and my body is between the guitar and the amp it goes away for the most part. Anyway, love this thing! Bought for 619.00 to my door new with 2 year warranty!
Thanks JCFer's

now think about a Floyd...you cant adjust it to be cocked like that because that would cause friction on the posts/knife edges and therefore cause binding and problems with tuning. the neck is angled like that so you can have the Floyd posts adjusted at the same height, minimizing friction and also keeping the low E higher than the high E and in a more normal position, like after you adjust a vintage style trem.
just my views...i just thought it was normal personally.

It's not a design flaw, It's a design that allows the Floyd to stay level yet keeps the strings positioned correctly on the neck for even, level action. Also take a look at the USA Models for a slight pitch in the set in neck. There is a slight pitch to compensate for the Locking Trem (I have a Soloist with a very slight pitch in the neck as well). Also have you ever looked at the pitch in the headstock of a Gibson Les Paul or an SG? Sight the neck down from the top of the headstock, and you will think the Headstock is Twisted. Also, take a good look at a standard Fender Trem. Ever notice that the Bridge saddles get higher from low to high strings (This only happens on Newer Model Strats with a Flat Radius Neck)? Same with a Tune-O-Matic Bridge.Last edited by damon1; 11-28-2007, 01:13 PM.

So you are telling me that all the other Jackson guitars that have the neck seated flat in the neck pocket are bad because the neck is not raised on the high e side? If I have a Jackson DK2M that has the neck seated flat in the pocket, should I start placing shims under the high e side to raise the neck to make it correct ? You believe what you want but this whole theory of the neck being seated crooked intentionally from the factory is a myth someone made up and total bs. Why do only some of the guitars have the problem while others do not? I have also seen plenty of Jackson USA models and none of them were like that. Also, no other guitar company is using this brilliant idea, why not? Here is my theory. The problem is occuring on the Jackson import line. QC is not as stringent as the Jackson USA guitars. If the neck is tilted and the guitar plays, it is being accepted by Jacksons QC and shipped. The higher the cost, the better QC(USA models). Flame me if you want but until Jackson states that it is intentionally(I emailed them a week ago asking that very question and have not gotten a response) I'm not buying that theory. If the DK2M I purchased was like JC's in the pic aboveand played ok, I wouldn't have worried about it ,but I've seen others that are a lot higher including the one I bought which I would not accept.
I had a DK2M with the single humbucker and red ghost flames and it was allot worse then the pictures above. Sent it backLast edited by z1n; 11-28-2007, 02:25 PM.

hello there..i'm Aditya from India..i'v just joined the forum a few days ago. I am pretty impressed by the quality of the content posted by the users.
I'm a happy owner of a black dk2m which i bought about 8 months ago.. i believe its a 2008 model.
This thread sorta got me a bit worried, i'm not sure if the guitar i have is allright.. what am i supposed to look for exactly? my neck pocket seems alltight as such... altho the bass E side of the nect fits snug into the body, while the treble e side of the neck has i think less than a credit card's thickness of a clearence with the body..is that too much of a problem? i'd be nice if you guys let me know if it has the defect or not.
thank you
cheers

Hey Aditya. Welcome to the forum! Wow, they're selling DK2M's in India? That's awesome! I am a proud owner of a DK2M for the past two years and dont have any issues with it. If you post pics that could help. There are also quite a few thread with pics. You could search and post in those too if you think that will narrow your problem down.
You said you bought it brand new. How much did you pay for it? And where did you buy it from?Sam
