  • New JacksonStars models spec discussion

So Atsushi (QuantumRider) did scan the new JacksonStars catalog and sent it to Henrik (Jackson1) who uploaded it to his site.

Thanks alot to both of you!

As QuantumRider already mentioned they have changed the nut width to 43mm on all models for 2008.

Now there seem to be alot more changes...
I don't see any Archtop Soloists, the J1 Rhoads models have been changed to mahogany and are not longer available in transparent finishes, the Seymour Duncan Custom has been replaced by the JB on all models.

List prices also seem to have risen considerably.

What do you guys think of these changes?

Atsushi, is this a complete catalog? Are all of the old models discontinued by now?

Wow, I'm thrilled about the nut/pickup thing...
But mahagony as standart on the top of the line models... I don't know what to think about that. I prefer alder.

Damn that Model C looks great! I'd like to have one

I can't see any 7 strings? So they aren't producing 7 strings anymore?

So all they have now are Soloists, Dinkys, Kellys, King Vs, RRs, and Warriors?

            No NASL?

            Weak.

Yes, definitely weak. No ASL either.
The fact that the top of the line Rhoads models only come in black is anything but good news, too.

@NextInLine: There have been no 7-strings in the line since for quite awhile (I actually don't know about the past). I think those that appeared were generally semi-custom orders, often ordered by stores themselves like Ikebe.

As far as I know, Jackson Stars never did any production 7-string Soloists. The ones you see at the Ikebe web site are part of a special run made specifically for Ikebe.

What I find weird is that the COW-7 is not listed in the catalog, either, and I know that Ikebe sells Jackson Stars versions of those. Very strange.

Well thanks, I didn't know they never had any production 7s. I hope the custom, semi-custom prices don't increase too much. Jackson stars seems to be the only way to get a Jackson 7 string with a trem! (I know there was the Dr-7t which I don't like)

Yes, the catalog was only 4 pages long. I haven't seen any of the "new" models yet at my local shops. The weird thing is, I see (usually lower end) Jackson Stars guitars that aren't in any catalogs, in addition to the "current" models at these shops.

I played the Model C at the Musical Instrument Fair, and I'm going to place an order for one either at Ikebe or Ishibashi real soon

I'd love to have a Model A. I prefer the H/H pickup config but the model B only seems to come in solid finishes. The Model A with maple board and transparent amber finish...

                            Some piece of new info:

I sent a mail to Ishibashi yesterday enquiring about the current situation (especially the availability of the old RR-J1B model).
I got an answer from my old sales agent who sold the semicustom Rhoads to me last year.

He confirmed the change in the line up... apparently the RR-J1B is not available anymore, but the new model (RR-TN01 STB) is not sold yet and will be available around march.

I am assuming this goes for pretty much the rest of the line as well.

I also got a quote for the new model... it is about 40% higher than the quote I got for the RR-J1B one year ago. This is pretty much in line with the list price increase when comparing the new catalog to the old prices.

Sounds to me like they know they were cutting into the US custom shop sales.
