  • Nuther new guy

I found this forum last night while looking around for info on the Jackson I've owned for 12 years or so. I always knew it was a nice axe but could never find any info on it.
Past searches never even led me to enough info to decipher the serial number to get the year, although I can't say I spent whole lot of time looking, just an occasional google.

When I found this forum it was just what I've been looking for - lots of info on every Jackson out there. The posts here and the info on audiozone.dk have cleared up a lot.
I'm now glad to know that I own a Soloist Archtop Pro Trem from 1990. I still have a lot to learn about these geets but now I know this one is a keeper (or at least to post it here if I ever do decide to 'cull the herd').

Here are a few pics (sorry for the high res).

Great intro and sweet guitar. This is a great forum and I know you will enjoy it. There are a lot of knowledgeable members here. Knowledgeable about more than just J/C guitars. But I have really bad new for you my friend. This place gives you GAS.
          Just one more guitar!

I've been trying to keep my GAS under control but it has not been an easy battle. There's always this burning sensation that a new axe would make my life so much more complete.

I don't know for certain what the pups are, I've never pulled them out. I'm guessing they are dimarzios.

Nice one The "archtop-ness" doesn't show much in the pics, probably the color and/or lighting. Is that the bridge that came on it? Looks like it has enough space in the back of the route for OFR screws....

btw here's a nice example of what i meant by "MOP often looks like aluminum foil on pictures" ... anyone else notice that?

Your guitar is amazing, with it's reverse sharkies

MOP never looks right unless you look at it at the right angles anyway:

As far as I know the guitar is all stock. Is an OFR that much better that it would be worth looking for and installing? I haven't had any complaints about the bridge. Seems to stay in tune pretty good with moderate wammying.

I went back and re-read the catalog page on this axe. Assuming the pups are original, they would be "Jackson J-80C ultra low noise humbucking pickups"

I may upgrade them but haven't settled on what I'm trying to get for sound. I may go to active pups, but want to play something with them in it to see if i like the sound.
