  • My New guitar

So i went on a family trip to the 'US and A', to New york to be specific, which was a lot of fun. Before going i obviously had to do some research on possible guitar stores to visit. some which turned out to be a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Walking in I got a serious GAS attack. But as i had some money saved because I wanted a new guitar anyway i was able to solve that problem. The dollar was low compared to the euro so it was always going to be a steal for me.

After a couple of days of pondering i eventually walked out with an import neck-through, arch-top alder (soloist) body, maple neck, bound rosewood fretboard and headstock, OFR, EMG 81 in the bridge 85 in the neck. In metallic black. The finish is great and it´s a big upgrade from my string through kvx10. It comes close to being my dream guitar except for maybe the rosewood fretboard and the colour. but damn im loving it,it sustains incredibly due to the neck-through and arch-top and the PU´s scream.
the fretboard is really nice, especially compared to my old guitar, the quality of the wood is just so much better.

I think i saved about 400€ buying it in the US so for me that´s great.

However I have never heard of a model with these specs, I know its made in Japan and the serial # is 061889. there is no J in front of the serial like I read somewhere. So could someone help me with this, was it built in 2006?2000? 1996? and possible info on the model run etc.

I dont have any other pics then the online store ones, but im not sure i'm allowed to post them. real pics of it will be coming soon

    Thanks

The only thing that could have made it a perfect 10 in my book would've been an ebony board but nice score anyway.

    Oh yes PICS!!!

"The Sam Ash exclusive Metallic Black Soloist is a hard rocking guitar with a nu-metal flair."

          Cool guitar though. Congrats!

Yeh i just saw that too. why would they ruin it by saying that? Besides, i dont really see anything NU-metal about it, it could also just be metal, the guitar is too good for it to be nu-metal.but hey, I guess they needed a selling point.

They actually had that white one in the store, it was beautiful, but a bit out of my price range, + i would have to pay customs.

btw anyone have any info on the guitar? like year it was built or info on the model, personally ive never seen specs like mine on any recent series.

                          Yeah, what he said. ^^^^^^^^

Nice guitar man. I've got the trans. blue version.

Here are a couple threads on this guitar. It's a limited run for Sam Ash.

thanks Madness, actually just found your thread. How are you liking yours? How's the tone? i noticed in one of your photos that the archtop actually reaches the same thickness as the standard thickness of your sl4, while the rest of the body seems abound 25% thinner. I hope there's no loss in tone and/or sustain.

I havent been able to test it with my proper equipment (just with a crappy old zoom multi fx with headphones) or take photos of it.and the mutli fx just doesn't do i justice.
But when I get back home round the 2nd ill post pics and a review, because besides yours and S-man's i havent seen any around with the EMG's.

btw. I assume you have seen musikschmitts Zoloizt review hehe sounds good on there with the SD's.

Yup, I thought the musikschmitt review was pretty good.

Mine sustains for days and has huge tone so the thickness really is a non issue for me...actually I think I prefer it as the guitar is one of the lightest, if not THE lightest guitar I have. I am really, really, impressed with this model. So much so that I have contemplated picking up one like yours with EMG's but, I need another guitar like I need a hole in the head.

                              Can't wait to see pics!
