DKMGT Pickups Active or Passive

I recently purchased a DKMGT that had the EMG's 81/85 combo in it, it's my first expierence with active pickups. I'm wondering what other people run in thier DKMGT, I have Dimarzio Super Distortions in a couple of my other guitars. I was thinking of going the the SD and a PAF in the neck, EMG's seem to fetch good money, should be able to break even.

What I'm hearing is when I go from say... my Stealth (Super Distorion) or my Charvel (Super Distortion) to the EMG's, it gets muddy on the Lead channel, I have to dial the gain way back and if I run the guitar volume up to 10 then it sounds muddy, I've been running about 4 or 5 and it cleans up alot.
