Should I put pickup mounting rings on my dinky HX?

I think it would make a cleaner look. Just looking for other opinions as this guitar is pretty rare and would be something I could not change back.

No, I'd leave it as is. The HX is cool, and I love the look of no pickup bezels. I've got a black one, also had a red one.

I agree with Toejam, leave it alone. IMO direct mount pups are nice.

Rare guitars and irreversible mods are not a good combo. You're smart to leave it stock. Someday you'll be glad you did.

Yeah, the stock pups weren't that good. The coil tap in the tone pot was a cool feature, though.
I originally replaced the ones in my black one for passive EMG Selects, then went to real EMGs a few years later (85b/60n).

I put a Tone Zone in the bridge of the red one (I think I actually got that TZ from you), and a Jackson J50N in the neck.
