  • Customized black/red RR3, pics inside!

I was going to sell this guitar once I got my SL3, but the wife asked me to keep it so she can use it for photo shoots (she does part time modelling). I thought if I was going to keep it I might as well make it more fun. So here's before, when it had DiMarzio FRED and PAF Joes, and standard setup:

Now I decided to get some red/black Duncan Invaders, from Mike Z, here:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/banjomikez_...Q3amesstQQtZkm and then I asked Dave at www.fretsonthenet.com to make me up some red pearl stuff to go with the pickups - he didn't have this stuff listed on his site but agreed to make some up for me. Both those guys were very helpful, prices were very reasonable and they were great to deal with all round.
    Here's the end result!

I'm extremely happy with how it's turned out - I think a black OFR would possibly look better than the silver here, but overall I think it looks stunning and it's great for playing things like Slayer thanks to the Invaders.

Thanks to Dave and Mike Z!

Nice mods! Red and black go well together and Invaders rule.

Yeah, that would be the ideal, but to be honest, a black OFR, machine heads, switch and knobs would set me back a fair bit. I'm not sure it would really be worth it.

          Nice AMP.

I've got the 50 Watt AVT series. Great amp for practice and gigging.

Yeah I used really cheap amps for years before deciding I wanted to get a Marshall. The AVT is perfect for what I want it to do, I love the thing.
But what do you think of the mods I did to the RR3?!

Oh I just bought some Fender red pearl plectrums to go with the RR3, and some blue pearl ones for the SL3. I like it all to match (as you can see with the straps....!)

The RR looks cool, but I think we need to see it in context of the part-time modelling... :P :P

it would be cool if you painted the tuner piece knobs red....... pick guard is a little over the top for my taste. over all, cool way to liven up a guitar.

Hmmm, I just painted them black (they were silver to start), but your idea sounds like it could work. I'll give it a go. If it looks shit I can always just paint them black again!.

ill agree in the pickguard...seems to be a bit much, but if you like who cares what everyone else says, right?

And ive got the 100 watt AVT combo...and after owning it for like 2 years i finally found an EQ setting that I like :o

I like it! Black hardware would finish it.

I changed it - didn't like the Invaders, both lookswise with the big black poles and soundswise. So I put in a Custom/Jazz set. Much better in every way now!

looks better now, imo...which is great. Maybe a bit too red for me, but fuck what I have to say.

                              nice sl3, btw.
