Black binding & MOTS inlays = something to distinguish high level imports from the USA Select line.

Nice looking guitar, but the EMGs and cutouts don't do it for me.

I like it, I'll be picking one up as soon as they're available......
Everyone was sitting on pins and needles waiting for this guitar to come out.....and now that it has there's nothing but negative comments about it.....remind me again why new Jackson models are few and far between......
I'm not into hell.........I just dig the soundtrack.........

In all honesty, I always preferred a battery box to a battery being rapped in foam in the electronics cavity. I always just saw it as more finished/complete, for lack of a better word. I never thought about it in the sense that, cutting more wood out of the guitar is gonna f up the sound of my guitar.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!

            They look great imo...

The only thing i've seen that I don't like is the sharkies as opposed to Phill's signle inlay...

I think black binding looks great on a white headstock or coloured headstock...

But maybe he wanted the production one to be a cross of his custom/ his old kv-2 hence the sharkies...

Just be glad it has ebony and an ofr though it might be a ping...

Everyone likes the style,,just not the black binding.

Does Phil Demmel's guitar have black binding? Nope,,,does it have shark fin inlays? Nope,,

              Control layout?

If they make one wih white binding,,I'll get the red version one,,it looks awesome.

...Becuase every single time they even come close to releasing something totally kick ass, they fuck it up in some stupid way. Its almost like its on purpose.

I can see it now in the meeting:
"Ok guys I think weve got it with this one! Its perfect and everyone is going to love it!"
"No, wait... its too nice... lets tone it down a bit, dont want to step on our USA sales!"
"Do you really think people are gonna spend $4000 on a custom shop though"
"Youre damn right I do, AND theyre gonna wait over a year, AND theyre gonna like it! Hah!"

                Lets see:

DK2M: Natural headstock is pretty much lame. Some like it, some dont... I dont.

RR24: Black binding (except the "screw ups"). Plastic inlays. A $1000+ guitar shouldnt have plastic inlays.

Now this: Black binding AGAIN Why? Sharkfin inlays. Why? Blade switch. Why?

Phils guitar was fucking badass, I LOVED it, especially when I saw it live. This guitar on the other hand, looks like shit... if the guitar they released looked anything like Phils guitar, I would be putting a deposit on one. But, again, they totally fucked that one up too.

Maybe Phil requested the variations to preserve some of the uniqueness of "his" guitar (I would)......
Keeping the "high end" features on "high end" guitars to maintain USA sales just seems like normal good business sense to me.....who's gonna buy the 'Cuda if the Pinto's got a Hemi?

If it had white binding you would have a bunch of people bitching and moaning that it didn't have black binding or red binding on the red guitar. Its not going to appeal to everyone. I like it. I doubt I'll pick one up but I think it is a nice addition to the line.

I Teched For Phil For A Short Period When He First Got His Red Usa Proto.

To Do The 12th Fret Inlay, No Other Inlays, Neck Thru With A Tung Oil Finished Neck AND CORRECT KNOB AND SWITCH PLACEMENT.... The Price Would Be Up There...no Other Way Around It Guys. I Think You Understand That...

They Did What They Could To Bring Something Very Close So People Can Get One.....

I Played The Black One At Hq Before I Left For Namm... It Feels Killer, Well Balanced And Very, Very Well Made!! Feels Like A Usa In Every Way.

If You Want One Like Phils Down To The Wire.... Usa Custom Shop Only Is The Way To Go.

You Can't Make That Guitar In A Cheap Import That Is Affordable.... It Won't Happen.

Great Job By Jackson If I Say So Myself!!!
Do the make the Namm import guitars in the usa to make them better quality?(serious question please don't mock me)
Anyway you couldn't get his guitar in the custom shop because it is an "artist's" model lol

Holy crap, I didn't pay that much attention to the black one and thought the bevels were white. Now I see they're actually silver!!

How much more would it really cost for a toggle switch instead of a blade switch? That's the only thing that I really dislike (besides the battery box), but it's not a deal breaker at all. I still want one!

Alright lets figure this out together!

Lets justify why they couldnt have made it look VERY similar to the real guitar:

a: 3 way toggle vs. 3 way blade = no price difference
b: white binding vs. black binding = no price difference
c: no inlays vs. sharkfins = LOWER cost
                              OR
                              d: 10 sharkfin inlays vs. 1 12th fret inlay = LOWER cost

Ah yes, making it to Phils proto, if anything would have cost the same, if not LESS both material wise and production wise. So again, why couldnt they make it like his? I cant wait to hear this one...

.....because the already had Neck thru blanks from the RR24 already set up. Add a Floyd nut and there it is..
