  • Jackson RR-3 sn: 9694561 - is it Japanese built?

As in topic. I've bought Jackson RR-3 sn: 9694561 on Ebay. It was described as Japanese model from 1996. I started to find more about these guitars, but now I have more doubts about it.

My Jackson has silver metal pickguard, the jack input is placed on upper wing (Strat-style shape), Duncan Designed pickups, 22 frets, Floyd Rose tremolo, serial number is written on the neck plate on the back.

Hehe, I know sometimes people have funny descriptions. Replacing one knob makes often the prototype.

That just looks like a bog-standard RR3 to me. Like the one I have. The "new Seymour Duncan Invader pickups" look more like Duncan Designed versions, which aren't genuine Invaders at all. Do they say Seymour DUncan or Duncan Designed on them?

That said, he has put in some nice real Duncans. Does it sound good? I don't like my (real) Invaders that I put in my RR3, and am wondering whether to get a JB/Jazz or Custom/59 set to replace them. How d'you like the JB and Jazz set?

There should be a sticky at the top of this forum called "Ask RacerX".
