  • DK2M question

Wasn't there a model DK2M that had a misaligned neck? I think it was sold through Sam Ash or Musicians Friend.

The reason I ask is, I am looking at one of the DK2M EDS, and I can't for the life of me figure out why a guy would buy a guitar, and then sell it at a pretty big discount a couple of months later if the guitar was sound.

I really want to know if there have been any issues reported like that with the EDS.

I think it was through MF and it was the red ghost flames reverse headstock and one humbucker. I think some of the last dk2ms also had some issues too.

      Thanks Rich.

That's the one. I would love to have one with EDS, just not sure about making a purchase like that without laying hands on the guitar.

Anybody else have any knowledge of issues with the newr DK2ms?

I got mine at Sam Ash last winter and had no issues at all.

I think the neck problem is not related to the finish. I've seen examples with and without the left-to-right neck pocket problem in the same store.

TXRocks - do you have any return policy from the person or store you're getting your DK2M from? I hope you don't need it but peace of mind is beautiful thing. If not, hopefully you can find someone nearby who could a little setup work for you. There ought to be a good amount of setup guys or luthiers in Houston.

I had no problems with mine... only by the time it showed up, I already wanted a DK2S. Now that I look back, I should've kept my EDS DK2M. That neck was fantastic.

Well, I bought it. $400 shipped. I should get it tomorrow. I am hoping there is nothing wrong with it, but I figured for that price, if it has any issues, I can part it out (and I hate the idea of parting a guitar out).

Maybe I misunderstood you but it sounds like you're suggesting you won't get the full value of the guitar if you have to bring it back? If there's something wrong with it, you're entitled to the FULL value. Don't let shops fuck you over just because it's on a sale/reduced to clear/2nd hand etc.

I didn't buy it from a store, but from an individual. He had it up on ebay, and it didn't sell. I emailed him, and offered him $400.00 shipped, and he accepted.

He shipped it out yesterday, so I will get it tomorrow. He said it was in perfect order, and that he had only played it a couple of times, but needed to sell it cause he needed to get rid of a couple of guitars. He had 100% approval rating on ebay, and has sold some really nice guitars in the past, so I figured I would give it a shot.

I wasn't aware it was a private sale. My fingers are crossed for you.

Thanks. I will know tomorrow if I made a good deal or not. I figure $400 is a steal if the guitar is sound.

Here is a pic of it from the ebay auction:

It got here, and seems to be in great shape. No scratches, chips, or pick swirls. Need to change the strings and set her up, but I think she is a keeper.
