  • DKMGT Pix and questions

Got an early birthday present for myself...DKMGT. Smokes!
    Serial number 9666921 (That's right, there's a 666 in the number).
Many of the pictures I've found for this guitar show two knobs. This one has three.

    About what year is this?
And is this the one that came original with EMG 81/85, or the HZ?
I put my 85 in it, and a temporary Evans in the neck (storage, unplugged).

Also, where can I get info on the Evans pup? Not much of anything comes up when I googled it.

That's an older version with the three knobs... volume, tone and EMG gain booster. They also had the HZ pickups.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

That's for sure. I'm having A LOT of trouble putting it down.
Not that it's a bad problem to have...

I have a set you can have if you are interested. They came out of my DKMGT. I replaced them with the JB/Jazz combo.
              I love the DKMGT neck.

Yeah, I was kidding. Everyone seems to replace them.
I'm either going to buy an EMG 81, or try a different passive pup.

                Thanks, anyways.

I sold the HZ's from my WRMG and put a set of SD Distortions in it, and replaced the "Afterburner" with another volume pot

i kinda wish mine was string through

Without me looking all over the place, what kind of price are the SD's, compared to EMG 81/85's?

Yup, liking the string thru...looks sharp on it.

Depends where you go. For some reference, I paid 80 bucks for a SD Distortion at GC, and paid 65 bucks for an 85 at an independently owned place. Shop around first. I've heard of people paying close to 100 bucks for a single EMG.

A good friend at work says he has an extra Jackson neck pup from his dinky
that he can give me to try (to repair some cables). He's not sure of the model number of the pup, but I am thinking of throwing that Evans back in the bridge slot and giving it a try. It's supposed to be a great pup, but I didn't even play it before putting the EMG 85 there. Or, I have a J90C that might do the trick.
If I'm not happy with the passives, I'll go back to the 85, and buy an 81 for the neck.

Playability wise, man, it's awesome. The bich and the others are still great, but I just love this neck. Feels just like the Model 88, but with more frettses!
