  • DK2M - Are they players?

I went down to my local music store to check out when they are expecting to get the new Boss GT-10 and while looking through their racks of guitars I spotted a nice trans blue DK2M hanging up. The laminate had a really nice looking flame and I personally loved the black sharkies and logo on the unfinished neck.

Now in order to prevent an impulse buy I didn't pick the guitar up and play it. What I want to know is how these guitars are quality wise in general? Is there anything I should be on the lookout for with this model? I seem to recall reading about neck pocket issues. Is there an easy way to spot this problem?

I have an 87 Model 5 Charvel, so I love Japanese built guitars in general but I know things can change a lot in 20 years.

    Thanks in advance!

I absolutley love my DK2M, for me it's almost on pair with my soloist playability-wise. Great action and the fretwork is amazing. The standard tremolo is not that bad either. I'm going to change the duncans that came with it with some DiMarzios but just to have a DiMarzio equipped axe. That being said I know there have been a problem with some late DK2M production for a bad neck pocket cut. In the end I really suggest you to give it a shot!

Yea the DKM2's are pretty popular and they are really nice guitars. I dont own one but have played a couple and both played really well , nice action and fast necks .They both looked and sounded really good to . Give it a try .

Playability wise, my DK2M is the nicest playing guitar I've ever played. I didn't get a trem bar with it, so I can't comment on that aspect

I have a DK2M and while everything looks and feels great, I feel its rather thin-sounding when compared to the DK2T and SL2HT. The SL2HT and DK2M both have the same gage strings and yet the DK2M sounds rather thin. I plan to install heavier strings on it. Other than that, everything is top-notch.

I'm very happy with my DK2M. Mine was from the first Trans Black batch to ship, and arrived 100% flawless and gig-ready. My only previous experience with a JB-equipped alder guitar was a KV2, and I like the tone of the DK2M much more. It doesn't sound thin to me, and I was pleasantly surprised that I wouldn't need to spend extra money on a pickup swap.

I think the white bengal one should be a stock model, not a limited edition... only because I want one!

I have 3 of them (inferno red, EDS, and black that is about to be sent of for a paint job). I love them. I think they look and sound badass.
