I attached the second half of the veneer (sorry, no photo). I sanded the edge of the veneer flat with the edges of the guitar. Then I re-sprayed the sides black (they got scratched up during sanding).
Tomorrow I'll be staining the top...probably trans black. Then all that'll be left is a little "sanding sealer" on the veneer, final light sanding and then shit load of clear coats.
For now I'll keep the original PS6 neck, but if the body turns out as well as I'm hoping...then I can justify spending the cash on a DK2 neck.
First stain: Trans Black. It turned out like snake skin! Pretty cool, but the black stain was only an under-coat for the trans brown.
Final color: TRANS-Black/Brown (just needs a black burst to cover up the bevels)
Ok, so the snakeskin effect of the first coat was really cool - but I went over it with more black and then sanded the high spots down and stained brown over it. While the final color may be more "normal" and not as unique, it turned out just how i wanted it. Yay
Anyway...I'll let it dry/cure over night. Tomorrow I'll go over the veneer with some "sanding sealer," give it a black burst, clear coat...then i'm done.
