Finally got into work to pick this Soloist up - Fecking hell, the condition is pristine...for £300 quid!? I'd be *PISSED* if i put this on ebay and it only got £300.
Only played it at work but you can just *feel* the quality of this guitar and it's not even an SL1.

In terms of the pickups - it really does look like the stock pickups are *not* hotrails - any anyone remember whether you could get an SL3 (perhaps many years ago now) with SD single coils instea od hotrails. The Trem is "jackson" licensed which i suspected.

I think i will have to admit to my wife that like so many of you i've found a new hobby - lurking on ebay for the *steal"...

*NEWSFLASH* - studying the really rather worn truss rod cover...it seems that there is what looks like a "Std." at the end and perhaps an "F..." at the start.

        This feels like bad news.

But this is crazy because surely there are no "Fusion Stds" with neck-thru and matching headstock in flametop.

This guitar is an enigma - someone please help!?

        I really hope it's a soloist. :-/

I do like how it plays but bought it because i wanted a soloist...

As with many people i want to know what model it is and when it was made...that's half the *fun* of buying second hand guitars.

Everthing points to an SL3 from the advert but:

            - Lack of hotrails
            - Black hardware
            - Evidence of something "std." on the truss cover suggests otherwise.

It's possible someone put on a custom truss cover. Mine (on my Rhoads, not the SL3) says "RR" on it, and it's bright red pearl - it never came like that originally!

What about the serial number? No help from that? The serial number, if it's like my SL3, should be at the bottom of the fretboard.
Why don't you post some pics? Maybe someone will be able to tell better from that.
At least give us the link to the eBay page.

How do the single coils sound? Are they pretty hot? Do they match the bridge pup well?

If its neckthru its a soloist. There were no production neckthru Fusions. Not Even in the USA. So It is a soloist. The previous owner obviously swapped out the hot rails for singles and the chrome hardware for black. No biggy. You got a great deal. Just enjoy the guitar.

Sounds like someone replaced some parts... no biggie.
Just a post a picture of it and be done with the drama.

                    Serial is 03xxxx (so 2003)
Will post pics when it's back from my luthiers (it needed a fret dress).
Pictures will strongly suggest SL3 with swapped out hotrails and a dodgy truss cover i'd imagine so i will just leave it at that then.
