  • New Guitar Day x2 - NASL porn

Heaping great gobs of thanks and sincere appreciation to QuantumRider for his assisstance in acquiring these two beauties

Trans Black NASL-J2B and Antique Cherryburst NASL-160. I'm not real sure that's a J2, as when I got my gloss black J2 that line had fretboard binding and only came in solid colors. This has no binding like the 110, but the 110's I've seen had dot inlays.

As well, the serial is about 200 below the 160's, so it has to be a model between the 110 and 160 (130?).

    Anyhoo, more pics:

The flame in this new one is way more vivid than my old 160.

Group Grope. New 160, J2E (originally had EMGs, hence the "E"), my first 160, and the new "mystery model".

The board on the new 160 is a lot darker than my old one, which looks more like rosewood (which is fine by me!).

    Also the color is darker.

I'm assuming the stock pickups are in it - SH6 and SH4 IIRC. Haven't pulled them yet.

The trans black has a JacksonStars pickup in the neck and a real Duncan in the bridge - dunnow which one was changed.

I've said a few times before I was never crazy about Jackson's tuneomatics except the Rhoads - they just didn't feel right to me - but this one kills.

The unbound neck feels more narrow than the bound, and bends are smooth as glass.

If you ever get a chance to play one, do yourself the favor.

Anyway, basic specs for those who don't know:
    -Mahogany neck through mahogany body
    -flamed maple arched top
    -25.5" scale
    -24 frets
-NASL-exclusive inlays of MOP and Abalone
    -Schaller trem (160, J2)
    -Seymour Duncan pickups
    -V/T/3-way toggle

The trans black also has Gotoh tuners. Not sure of they're stock; the 160's both have Grover Jackson tuners (sticker). The Gotohs have the embossed/raised logo.

very awesome!!!!! those are different for sure. i am kinda surprised that jackson doesn't have that model over here to appeal to "vintage" guys or fellows that HATE pointy headed strat bodied guitars, or just plain 'ole pointy guitars!!!!
      GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

      and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Right on Newc!!!! I am glad you got your hands on those. Great collection!

I'll never figure out why those got discontinued.

What really irks me is that they apparently won't build them custom either (I'm hoping there's no truth in that but it's a wait and see).
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Probably not Metal enough, even though it would be nice competition for PRS.

But then, it would probaly take players away from Fender (gasp!).

If it is available as a Custom for a decent price, I wouldn't mind a maple board. The flash made this pic appear to be maple:

Wow, great collection. I like the stoptail J2B the most (obviously, because of the bridge), but they all look awesome.

            Good catch!

I'm the opposite and prefer a trem or SLS-style hardtail, but that trans black is AWESOME.

Maybe they'll bring it back as a Newc sig model.

Very nice-looking collection, Newc. I like the inlays with that body style.
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

                    Those must have great sustain.

                    I love the burst ones...

Glad that the guitars made it to you OK.

I told you that the flame top looked better in real life than in the pics that I sent you, didn't I

Could you post a thread for me in the Feedback section as well?

                      Thanks,

Sweet!! What's the deal with the one on the right with the four single coils jammed in there?

3 Duncan Custom Shops - Distortion Jr, Custom Jr, and Jazz Jr, and a Classic Stack (white) wired to a 6-position selector knob.

Interesting. What coil positions are selected?
