I spot a few things that are weird. In the description this: "Poplar body with a flamed Maple top...Beuatiful flamed maple top is accented by the awesome Eerie Dess Swirl Finish."

Since when do you see the wood through a swirl finish??? And how often do they put a flame veneer on a guitar that will recieve a non-transparent finish?!? And regarding the bodywood; as far as I know, the DK-2 has been listed with an Alder body since...err...forever? Notice how the spec listing (clearly copied from Jackson's old site) says "Alder with Flame Maple Veneer on Transparent Colors".

Then the price. If you're in the US or thereabouts, I think it's not a good deal at all. You can probably find a brand new DK-2, or DK2M for that price, with real Duncans and a better trem. That guitar there in the picture is at least 2 years old, with "Duncan Designed" pickups and the old lower quality trem.

It reeks IMO. I'd stay well away from it.

Does anyone of you know how to spot the real Duncans VS the Designed by just by loocking at them ?

Guitar Center lists the DK2 in EDS for $699 brand new w/ real Duncans so unless you are in an area where its tougher to get this, its not a great deal.

Unless they take it off , it says it on the front of the pickups.

Alder and Poplar are interchangeable tonewoods - Jackson has used both in models that are listed as being made from one or the other since...err...forever.

Yep- Duncan Designed with either say Duncan Designed or be blank. Real Ducans will have Seymour Duncan on them.

Also, chrome hardware=pre-upgrade DK2= Duncan Designed. Black hardware= upgraded year model.

I haven't played one, but I know someone who did.
He says there is a big difference from this (what he call real Jackson proffesionals) to the DK2 or others.
He claims this is much better

                      I really don't know about that !

The bridge on the Dinky STD looks like a JT-590 aka Schaller Floyd. It's a top-quality bridge as opposed to the current jt580lp which is 2nd tier.

EDS DK2's are a dime a dozen, the red Dinky Std. is relatively rare.

If I had to choose between the two at the same price I would get the red one.

(And I LOVE the EDS finish)

Yes, I like the Dinky Std better, the only thing I was not shure about is the Jackson pickups and how do they compare to the real SD on a new DK2.

On the other hand, correct me if I 'm wrong, I was under the impression these 90's Dinky Std Professional were supperior to the actual DK2.

Well maybe if I'm lucky I ll get one of these two
If I manage to gather the money on time that is !!!!

Depends. If they are early 90's Jackson pickups, they will be high quality (especially if they were made in USA). The Jackson pickups that came out later were not as good. The ones that came in my RR-X from 1998 were really crappy.

I don't really think the Dinky Std is "superior" to the current DK-2. It's too much of a preference thing to make a clear call. That being said, it is a really cool guitar for sure.
