  • SL4 Soloist?

What's the verdict on these? Pre-Fender I'm guessing, MIJ. How's the quality compare to let's say an SL3? What's a reasonable price in good condition?

    Thanks!

The same as an SL3 of that period. I like the fact that they have 22 frets for a better neck pickup tone.

I would think they would go for 400-600 depending on color, condition, and who happens to see the item for sale.

      thetroy-

You think that much? I've been watching "old" pro's go for not much more than that. Hell, I just took down a Fusion Pro from our very own Brooke that was in classifieds for $500 without shipping. Saw a Rhoads Pro with EMG's go down on the 'bay for around $700.

Big diff between $400 and $700, sure, but still...Rhoads always seem to command a premium.

All it takes is 2 people who want it. If the situation were right, I could see myself paying 600 shipped for one.

I really doubt you'll ever find one under $400.

Indeed the same quality, except the SL3 is H/S/S while the SL4 is H/H.

Yeah I figured that part would be even more obvious than the # of frets!

I didn't know this...I might get one as my next guitar if the price/time is right.

Well, the fact the SL3 has more frets is surely balanced - in terms of neck pickup tone - by the fact there's a single coil sized pup in the neck?
