I got this guitar for $499 - damn good deal. It plays really well and looks badass. It has more dents/chips than described - but i really don't care, they are only noticable up close. Metallic black finish - I'm not a fan of black guitars, but how could i pass this up? Schaller Floyd Rose, stock neck pickup, Duncan TB-5 bridge pickup. Has normal Soloist style frets, not the annoying tall thin ones like my KV1 had.
There are only 2 issues i have:
-Neck pickup is very shrill sounding. I like warmer tones from a neck pickup.
-Something isn't right about the bridge. The high E string is lower than the rest of the strings and as far as I know, a floyd rose doesn't have adjustable string height for individual strings. I'm not sure how to fix this. It doesn't affect my playing, but it looks crazy. You can see in this picture...

Anyway, the low E and high E are the lowest saddles, the A and B strings are higher, then the G and D strings are the highest. They should have numbers on the bottom of them, like 1, 2, 3 or 0, 2, 3. They sell metal shims that you can put under the saddles to make them higher, or you can just use a piece of business card or tape, too, to get them to the height you desire.
Congrats on the sweet guitar!I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Congrats! Good to hear that UPS didn't fuck it up.
So I hope that floyd issue is an easy fix, enjoy your new axe!

Actually in that pic it looks like the high E saddle is way short!
Seriously, I'd get a new saddle (or a whole set) from StewMac or someplace else that serves import Floyd parts.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Nice V by the way, that is very nice! I'm trying to get used to seeing "Grover Jackson" on the headstock though.'Howling in shadows
Living in a lunar spell
He finds his heaven
Spewing from the mouth of hell'

I'm not sure how - but i fixed the saddle problem. The strings it came with were 9's - I restrung it with 10's and tightened the trem springs a bit. Then I adjusted the intonation. When i was finised, i noticed the saddles looked the way they're supposed to.
I swapped around some pickups from my other guitars. So now the King V has an SH-4 in bridge (16.4k) and an SH-6n in neck (12.7k). Sort of a strange combo, but it works. I'm not sure what kind of wood this KV is made of, but it has a harsh high end. I think I'm going to install 250k pots to relax the treble a bit.Last edited by Deadlock; 08-17-2008, 01:21 AM.
