  • Woohoo! Kelly Std arrived!

I arrived home yesterday to find an enormous Gretsch box out back. Opening it up revealed this...

    Oooh the suspense!

This is my first guitar with EMGs. I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. The 81 in the bridge has quite the bite to it...similar to a Screamin' Demon I'd say. And the 85 in the neck is so warm!

The guitar itself is in pretty good shape. Paint is chipped at almost all corners and it's missing knobs for the volume and tone, but the neck is good and straight and the frets have plenty of life left.

It's also the first time I've seen this kind of bridge. Is this the JT590LP? The string clamp screws are on top of the bridge instead of at the end.

    Nice

    Nice Kelley!

Nahhh, its a JT580lp. Pretty standard fare on most post 95-96 Jacksons. Usually made by Teukuci (sp?). Pretty craptacular really.

Looks fucking lovely! The missing knobs are a cheap fix, bet it plays great.

            Very nice ,

I'm willing to bet you the (tone\volume)knobs were removed because of the closeness to the bridge ,they can be accidently rolled back quite easily.

            Congrats
Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

Cool. My first Jackson was also a Kelly Standard (bought from MF in the early '90s) in the same dark metallic blue color. I hated the JT580LP at the time, since I was used to regular Floyds with the longer locking pins out the back, so I wound up returning it, but I should have kept it. I actually seem to prefer the low-profile bridges a little more now.
Someone modified yours with an extra knob, as they only had a volume and selector switch. http://audiozone.dk/cm/displayimage.php?album=61&pos=6

Ah, that explains why things seem a bit crowded in the control cavity.
